Have you heard of heirloom fruits and vegetables?

Do you know what they are and do you know anyone who grows them?

Yes I have. Basically, they are older, non-hybrid, traditional varieties of plants grown mainly for their taste, rather than transportability, uniformity, or length of time they can be stored for shipping to markets. They are meant more for home growing rather than commercial viability.

Sounds like just what I have been wanting. Any idea where to get those seeds? hmmm?

Your best bet might be a seed catalog. I believe Burpees carries a number of them.

I knew there was a difference in seeds and plants, but never gave much thought to anyone having a name for them. I don't like a lot of the fruits and veggies with the way they are changed now.

This is interesting...I know of flowering plants that are Hierloom -
Roses, Pansies, Iris... but not fruits and veggies...
apples! like when I was a kid! Yay!

Ja'aj, exactly! I miss the taste of a great tomato! Many of the fruits and veggies we eat now will never compare to what we use to eat. I would rather deal with some seeds than lose the flavor and maybe even some health benefits. good luck breezey !! REAL strawberries would be good to,and it's good to find the odd worm in an apple, they only eat the best and don't like chemicals!!
some time ago i bought a bag of apples ,they were in the crisper for to long ,but instead of throwing them out, i left them there to see how long they'd last, i am not kidding, a YEAR!! later i finally threw them out, but...they still appeared to be in the same state, had i cooked them, nobody could have told the difference.

ps , been having a lot of connection probs, sometimes won't connect at all , often get disconnected and can't get back , i don't know if something was posted or not. hope this will be resolved soon .
