I think we had some kind of horse to ride. Not sure if he had a hobby or not. Seems like if we weren't riding it, he just sat there most of the time, staring at the wall.

Yes, had a few.
Most of the ones we had were on springs, like this one:

That's what we had Jack, only back then the springs were exposed, so you learned quickly to be careful not to get pinched by them.

Got "bit" by the rocking horse every now and then.
Nowdays, it would be an all-out emergency recall
of an "extremely dangerous toy!" How did we ever survive?
