Interesting question. To tie in with another one posted today that I don't have time to adequately respond to, one thing that comes to mind is that I rarely hear of anyone selling their bodies to get their next fix of pot.

I think... what many say happens, is that pot no longer is "enough" and a lot of people try something "more" to get that high they no longer seem to get from pot. So... like many other things, when the "newness" wears off, they search for something else to replace it. Many times, it's illegal drugs. Might be that the more expensive and harsher the drug on a person's body... the more addicted and willing to do what it takes to "feed" it a person will be?

That argument has been used by many, but it has a lot of holes in it. First of all, the same could be said of tobacco, or alcohol, or...breast milk. The argument goes that most people who are hooked on strong narcotics such as cocaine or heroine or meth used pot first. But the majority of these people also had previously tried breast milk (or formula). So is breast milk/formula a gateway drug?

Note that they say the majority of people who use hard drugs tried pot first; the reverse is not also true. The overwhelming majority of people who have smoked pot do NOT go on to get hooked on hard drugs.

Tater, something I am trying to understand... most say marijuana is not addictive... then WHY can't people leave it at home and only smoke it there... where they won't be fined, put in jail, etc...?
I don't understand how something that supposedly isn't addictive can be such an issue.
