I wish my mom had taught me how to cook and use the sewing machine. So many things I didn't learn until a lot later in life... things that could have been useful for daily life/

I wish my Mum had of shown me how to use an iron.............. actually.... I am glad she didn't lol

Now, the iron I can deal with! lol The sewing machine is a whole different matter with bobbins and tension and what not! lol

I know how to use an iron, but that doesn't mean I actually use it. My mom has a sewing machine, but I wouldn't be able to use it if my life depended on it. I can use a needle and thread in a pinch, but it's not going to be pretty!

Did your parents try to teach you about relationships and what to look for as signs of good or bad when getting to know someone?
It wasn't really ever brought up in our home... and I am pretty sure it should have been.

I don't think my parents even knew that for themselves. There were a lot of things that were left unsaid that probably should have been addressed.

Well, I only had my mom, but I think one thing she taught by example is to do whatever it takes to keep your children with you.

And yet... the "assumption" is all women are great mothers..that they automatically love and care for their children.
I have seen women who didn't care at all about their children. Makes me glad my mom did her best to keep us all together. smile2
