Are people ever truly happy with what they have?
Even if they say it's just what they wanted, many still don't seem to be happy with what they have. Is that just part of how people are?

if people were contented with what they have we would still be living in caves.

Re: Are people ever truly happy with what they have?
I see this as a multi-faceted question?
Would you care to be specific-er?
In general:
Yes, I think people are - when they say it; but times and they change...
What Roxanna said, too. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Okay... items people say they want so badly. Once they have them, they don't really care and already have a new item listed that they want. It's not just progress. It seems many aren't happy and always want more or different or better.

It's nice to get smething new now and then, but not overdone. knew somebody like that, just had to have one to,and better than anybody elses, in the extreme, a sickness.

Roxanna, there are a LOT of people like that. It's like they grew up with the idea that more, bigger, better is a good thing and somehow will make them happier.

Re: Are people ever truly happy with what they have?
I think that as people mature... they learn to be
content with what they have to a ever-growing extent.
I think that as people mature they learn to know what,
specifically, that it is that they truly want and -if they
get it - are genuinely satisfied.

This question brings to mind
one of my favorite quotes:
"To be satisfied with a little, is the greatest wisdom; and he that increaseth his riches, increaseth his cares; but a contented mind is a hidden treasure, and trouble findeth it not." ~ Akhenaton
* Akhenaton was an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh. Apparently, people have been considering the answer to this question, down through the ages.
