Here, most people rush to get their kids home from school and dressed up and out the door to trick or treat.
Depending on each family.. kids will be cute or just downright ugly!
Many adults dress up too.
When I was a child, never went trick or treating.
Some kids rush to see how many houses they can get to and how much candy they can get. Other kids seem to be fine with going to just a few houses and going home. lol If it's really cold or raining, the costumes kind of end up hidden under coats and hats.
Picture this... a little three year old girl... only been to one house and is laying on the grass, rolling around and acting like she's dying... saying it's too hard and she can't walk anymore! lol That little girl ended up with tons of candy from just that one house because they felt so bad for her! lmao!!!

Here the wee beasties dress up as princesses or witches
(or anything else) and they go house to house collecting candy.
When I was a kid it was safe for us to anywhere and everywhere.
Now mostly they stick to their own neighborhoods and are always
acompanied by an adult.
Still, it's big deal and the schools allow costumes if it falls on
school day.

FREE CANDY IS HEAVEN FOR KIDS ! I didn't know they could wear costumes to school ,that would be fun,not much learning on those days ! I don't remember if we had halloween in Austria, but on New Years day kids would knock on neighbours doors ,and wish them a happy new year and get money,it also worked with anybody out in the street,I think It's meant to be only mornings, but I remember going out for a few hours and coming home with a huge stash! collected from neighbours ,friends and strangers, can you imagine going home with money from strangers these day?

Here, the schools only allow "nice" costumes. lol Nothing with blood, really ugly, etc... Kids are still expected to do the exact same work as any other day... maybe a small party thrown in.
Roxanna, if kids here ever tried knocking on doors for New Year... most people would probably be cranky and tell them to knock it off! lol
