You got a point there, Jaaj, there's something about coming in contact with a spider unexpectedly, or it's web...EEK!
Hi, Tater!
I agree! Insects - especially spiders - are soooo "other"!
Yow and eeewww!

Yow and eeewww!
But not as bad as palmetto bugs...they're kind of like giant flying cockroaches!
That is EXACTLY what they are!
I swear Florida even named a town after the things. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Well the town was probably named after the saw palmetto, which is basically a small scrub palm that is fairly ubiquitous among the undergrowth in the subtropical Florida forests.

Maaaaybe... but that's no fun.
I have a lot more laughs teasing Floridians
about naming a town after a bug. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Maybe almost as bad as naming a town Intercourse, like they did here in PA? The town of Paradise is half way between Intercourse and Bird-In-Hand, and down the road a ways from Blue Ball.
Those all all real names, believe it or not. Blame the Pennsylvania Dutch.
I believe you ... interesting people,
(the Pennsylvania Dutch) I think.
Do you suppose they saw the humor at the time? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hard to say, since English was not their native language, and Intercourse has several levels of meaning.
