Re: What are some of your favorite comic strips?
I see a "pattern" there, Tater!
I like those!
I'm also a big! fan of "Baby Blues" and "Rose Is Rose"
along with "The Wizard Of Id" and "Doonesbury".
Oh! I like "Zits" and "LouAnne" (? is that the name?)
and I like "Stone Soup" - we seem to be living parallel lives
part of the time... ?
Also I like "Pickles"... the cat is winning, I think. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Good list there, but I can't say I'm familiar with Stone Soup. Maybe I'll have to check it out.

About Stone Soup
Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup
follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two
working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val
and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva
and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and
his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who
steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent
hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single
mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]It's just about everyday living... and it's more hilarious aspects -
"hilarious" that is - if it isn't happening to YOU...

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] That's actually worse! than any boss I ever had...!
They were mostly stoopid and mean.
They were mostly stoopid and mean.
Mine was stupid and mean AND an idea thief. I suggested something that would save the company thousands of dollars per year, AND make our jobs easier as well, but he said we weren't authorized to use it. (Even though HE could have authorized it!)
About a year and a half later, he sent out a company wide email stating that he had found something that would save the company a LOT of money...and of course denied ever remembering anything about me telling him about it. Unfortunately, because of limited server memory space, I had to delete the original email I had forwarded to him on the subject. I should have printed that dang thing out and saved a copy, even if it was just to prove what an ass he was!

Tater,

What a creep! I'm sorry.
Did you get to use your idea, at least?
I hope there was no reward for this jerk...

Funny thing is, I used my idea and encouraged others to do so as well, just for the time and labor savings involved, long before he ever "discovered" it!
Good for you!

No, he wasn't; that's one more reason he is my EX boss.
If you'd been using your idea - and your coworkers
were using your idea... where did he get the nerve? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

He didn't KNOW we were using it; since he said we weren't authorized to use it, I figured what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him.
Hi, Tater!
Only the title 'BOSS' makes the bosses think they are ALWAYS right. It's good that you're finally out of his 'creative unoriginalities'

Tater,
He didn't KNOW? What was he bossing?
Eink has a good point. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I have actually worked under a couple of people I liked -
and a couple I couldn't stand but I respected them because they knew their job - and mine!
Which I think is (certainly I think it should! be) a requirement if someone is gonna be in charge of people actually DOING
the job! - whatever it is.

Unfortunately, he didn't know our jobs as well as we did, therefore he insisted on us doing things his way, even though it often made little sense to do so.
For example, when scaling distances on a map, he insisted we should always use the 50 scale on an engineering (drafting) scale, regardless of what the map scale was. I would vainly try to explain that this would make it necessarily require the use of a calculator, whereas the reason the scale has 6 sides was to eliminate the need for calculating in the first place. If a map has a scale of 1"=400', you use a 40 scale; for 1"=500', a 50 scale, 1"=600', a 60 scale is in order, etc., etc., etc..........

WHY do companies think it isn't necessary for someone
to know a job in order to supervise the people who do it?
That just makes the supervisor a cop!
