Um... one they can afford?
I've no idea other than that -
and hopefully, one that provides
enough space that they can all breathe -
(avoiding child-murder is good)
and a place for the kids to play... OUTside? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

A yard is a good idea with little kids, which most likely rules out a condo.

True; the complex where mine was (we only had 44 units, total)
and the bulk of them were either ist and 2nd floor deals...around the pool.
but 8 of the largeer 2-bedrooms were "only" they were on the ground,
and no one was above. (a couple of the 1 bedrroms were that way too,
but they were also surronded by parking and driveways...)
HOWEVER... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] mine -and the other seven like it
were out front and had YARD! boy, front and an greenbelt leading
to the pool beyond the (enormous) patio.
In my case the BIG plus was it was also a block away and on the same
street as where we had lived - only now NO JAMES! -
and Molly was only that 1 block further away.
Okay,fine... and so were Greg's friends... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
So...
Condos and little kids = no,
but townhouses = YES!

For myself, my favorite home was our Patio home.
Free standing; single family; relatively itty-bitty yards
(only 3 sides though) - cuz the 4th side was dead on the property line.
The back was large-enough for a pool. (James and his feakin' pools... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
The side and front yards were plenty! big-enough for
lawns (we had a German Shepard, ya know) and landscaped -
and large-enough to be a pain cuz both Greg and I don't love yard work.

Lots of little kids EVERYWHERE - including mine.

I loved it there. And it's where I met Molly - two doors down,
Her Johnny was 5, Franki was 2 and Brandi was on the way.
It was FUN! Tiff was born there.
We all (the neighborhood) moved in about the same time
and we used to meet out in the middle of the cul-de-sac
and bitch about the builder.
It must have looked like a town meeting.
Or a lynch-mob... good times!
Great ! neighborhood. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
