Generally, just about never, unless it won't start!

Mostly, on a "as needed" basis.
(Although regular maintenance is an on-going thing.)
Just got through overhauling one of our riding mowers.
It got a new battery, new tires and sharpened blades.
It's ready to go as soon as you get here
to help me mow!
I'll just go and get you some iced tea from the frig ...

Trying this again because I absentmindedly forgot to post! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Since it's a riding mower, I'll be on my way in ten minutes, Jack!! Ice tea sounds really good!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Re: How often do you give your lawn mower a tune up?
It seems as though this topic is due for a service so......
Ill fess up. When we moved here 30odd years ago we brought our mower with us from the old place. Eventually one of the local shops did a special offer exchange. I think I got about £65 off the price of the new one, well it was just about dead and saved me the trouble of taking it down the dump. Fortunately Ive kept the full service history, mpg records, maintenance schedule, the works (NOT !!). In those 30years the total number tune ups, oil changes, and cleans equal precisely... zero.

Re: How often do you give your lawn mower a tune up?
Now, why do you suppose people put more into keeping a car running, but not so much a lawn mower?
I had a push mower for ten years. Never gave it an actual tune up or anything close to it. It started running choppy and I traded it for another used lawn mower. I paid a whole $20 with a trade and for two years, this mower runs geat!

Re: How often do you give your lawn mower a tune up?
Don't start me on cars, thats a whole other story. Sufice it to say that my girls started to learn to drive at the age of ten and I felt I should set them a good example as far as car care goes. Like me, they're confident at speed, but unlike me seem to avoid getting caught. The elder has managed to get herself caught twice in one week using the bus routes in London though.
(Revenge is sweet!)
Im glad to say all the training has paid off and, so far, they've both avoided any bumps and scrapes.
As far as the mower is concerned, they've never shown the slightest inclination to cut the grass.
