The schools insist you can send only healthy snacks for your children. Well, fruit snacks are not considered healthy, but Sunchips are. I have recently found out there is a lot of sugar in those chips.
Snacks for school have to be able to stay out of the fridge, be healthy, easy for children to open and help themselves... so... what things would be good? Whole fruit is too hard for kids to use.. usually.

bananas are great,grapes,as tater said, apples and pears should be easy enough to eat,also mandarines.

Not once did I think of fruit at all! I am so use to snack size bagged items that it never occurred to me to go a whole new route.
The school allows Sunchips, which are packed with tons of sugar. Goes to show they really don't know a healthy snack.

Debi, upon checking the nutritional label for Sunchips, I find that that they have three grams of sugar per serving, which really isn't all that much.

The dentist will disagree. Did you read how many servings are in just a snack size bag?

Chips go fast with kids. Five would never be enough. Not even for me. lol

They are still a lot better than cookies. One average cookie would have about 5 grams of sugar.

veggies are the best to eat but if you ask the kids, carrot or chips, what would they say???. Actually popcorn is a great snack. But when I was a kid, OMG, I was mr. sugar. I ate tons of whatever looked good , chips, candy bars, chocolate doughnuts, cookies, candy, way too much junk food. I never was overweight, I never put hardly any weight on eating all that as I was always in motion. A permanent sugar rush,lol. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
