Are older people obstinate... :: Comments
Roxanna,
Someone in the early twenties age group said we...you, me, Ja'aj. etc..., are not obstinate, just set in our ways. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

with the diversity, interest and eagerness to learn new things, that i see in this group, i can't say that i have seen anybody i would call 'set in their ways '
although, speaking for myself, there are some things that are set in stone, and nothing will make me budge !! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
(they are usually my own personal principles)

Set in our ways... I think it could be like meaning a comfort zone.. sticking with what we know and have grown accustomed to? Maybe not liking changes and wanting to do things the way we already know how? Sometimes, I think I am stubborn or obstinate, but maybe... set in my ways could explain that too. lol
Personal principles... I am with you on that. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Say WHAT?!? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
(This 20-something person is an endangered species,I presume?)
Older than whom?
EDIT: Sorry ... What ROX said!
(BTW, Tater, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Stubborn and set in their ways are not the same things.
Surely you've eperienced/ dealt with a 2 or 3 year old child?
How 'set' can they be? They are certainly stubborn though.)
ALL ages develop personality traits - certainly the VERY! young
person -who KNOWS EVERYTHING..., BTW...
has surely acquired one. Geez.
People- IN GENERAL- are uncomfortable with change.
(Try telling 13 to 25 year-olds they DON'T know everything)
See how far that ! gets you.
Better still - say the magic phrase "When you're older..."
- then sit back and watch! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Oh. My answer: It depends. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I wish I would have been stubborn enough to stay the way I was before moving here. I was stuck in my way and loved every minute of it. I love learning new things but I also loved being alone in the woods even more. no people unless I wanted to see them. I was stuck in my ways when I was thirty, now I have had so many changes in my life, I really wish I had not changed. Stayed right where I was, in those big trees. I so blew it.

Hi, (((Ron))),
You did not! ("blew it") [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Your "ways" when you decided to relocate were not
the ways you remember so fondly now, if you recall.
(?)
It has been a GOOD choice (whose "time" may have come.)
Which is another choice and your call, obviously. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Ron, changes in your life brought you new friends, new ideas and seeing new things. I would not wish to be the person I was at thirty. Since then, I have grown, found a few great friends, learned more about myself, become a better person and so much more.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Thank you ladies, I really appreciate your positive input. I mean you are both right in what I did, it was time for a change when I lost my first wife, because we were never going to leave the woods, but I tried for 1.5 years to be happy there and all I did was cry everyday because what I loved the most in my life was taken from me. My whole life had changed after that. I have seen much, done much, have lived a very good life, had a major setback but I came through it, so I have to agree with you both changes are good. I just love that little smiley, lol. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Aren't you glad you're not close enough for me to actually do that to you? lol
NO because sometimes I need a good kick in the butt but please not in my ear,lol [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
*ahem*
Excuse me. I am going to butt in here...
(sorry- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] this isn't a private conversation ya know...)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Now.
I take exception to RON'S remark [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]made above.
I certainly did not say 'change is good'. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
EDIT:
Balance of content removed with my apologies. }:>

If I am seen as goody two shoes... I really don't mind.
I can't help how I am and it keeps me from being down a lot of the time.
Things work out.. we are stuck with the options of complaining and not trying to make the best of it. I know things could be worse because they have been.
Time to find something to eat.

Ja'aj, I didn't say stubborn and set in your ways are the same thing, I said obstinate and set in your ways were synonymous.
Obstinate means: "Stubbornly adhering to an attitude, opinion, or course of action". Sounds like set in your ways to me.
