I would go just for the chance to go without a cell phone for a couple of days. My boss was mad at me the other day because I don't want to spend $20 a month just so I can call her if I'm stuck in traffic and running late for work. She has 2 Corvettes. One of these days I'm gonna tell her that if she needs me to have a cellphone (that she doesn't allow us to use while we are working, 60 hours a week), she can pay for the minutes.

Ja'aj, I'm pretty sure you were being tongue in cheek, but she's anything but adorable. She's so cheap that if we run out of paper towels, she expects one of her employees to run two doors down to the Dunkin' Donuts and grab a big handful of napkins.

Yup. She also insists that after we drop somebody off in Fort Washington, that we drive through Richboro on the way back, because that town is in our territory, and we don't have to take the turnpike, which takes us through an area which isn't in our area, but costs us a $2.05 toll.
Which would make sense, except that the turnpike route takes about 25 minutes, and the Richboro route takes about 45, and costs us twice as much in gas. And we rarely get a job in the Richboro area while we happen to be there, but we often get a job at or near the office, but the people often have to wait an extra half hour or more while they wait for me to get back from Richboro, which is about a 25 minute drive from our office.

Does the company pay you an hourly wage?

Nope, it's strictly commission.

She is the kind of person who is penny wise and pound foolish; she routinely spends a dollar to save 40 cents. If/when anybody tries to point out that she actually LOST 60 cents, she pulls the "I'm the boss and I've been in the cab business for 40 years and I know what I'm doing" routine. Of course, she doesn't like it at all when you mention that her father had dozens of cabs, and since she inherited the business, she's down to 7, with no more than 4 or 5 on the road at one time...

What kind of business is it that routinely turns down business? "Sorry, we can't give you an $80 ride to the airport, because we have 3 $15 rides to do right now..."
