Have you looked up any "useful" information lately? Empty Have you looked up any "useful" information lately?

Here, we have gathered information and are now going to make that laundry soap and shampoo. lol Yes.. it's taken a while, but we are getting there!
Today, I am looking at how to have some veggies with little space for gardening. If I am stuck with small areas, I am determined to still DO something useful with other options!

"It depends" on what you mean by 'useful.
It was useful to me; that's why I looked it up. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Ja'aj.. Useful.. maybe something you can actually use and do something with? lol
I mean.. I look up lots of things that have no real use, just for fun... but am on a "useful" kick right now. lol

Hi, Bree! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

*tsk* You are such! a showoff... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

All information is useful sooner or later.
"Just for fun", I think, is a particularly "useful" thing to do.

Speaking just for me; I remember things I learned just for fun...
"forced learning" (see cramming for tests at school) doesn't
stay with me usually.
I 'passed the [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] test' and -mostly- promptly forgot it.

Seriously! Who remembers even half of what they say you need to learn in school? lol
I am one who'd rather learn what's going to be useful to me and my life. lol
Yes... even fun is useful! Without the fun, I'd be a worse nut case than I already am! nuts
And... HI! wave right back to you! smile2

Mostly... I think they were wrong - in my case, anyway.
(I'm waaaiting (still) to miss/be sorry/whatever for not
sticking with my piano lessons.)
Also, excepting the very infrequent conversation, most
of the history I learned was useless... come to think of it -
most
of the "science" courses I took have been useless, day to day .
Once I wasn't in school any more, a great deal of what I
learned has gone unused. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

History, the more advanced maths, science... not a lot I use from any of those.
Drivers education was good. lol
Reading, writing and such... useful.
Typing, sewing.. some of the things they didn't really give much time to... could have been a lot more useful now!

Yes. "English" (my major) has been very useful.
At least most of the time I manage to sound (semi?) literate.
I was never a math whiz - (and I don't like math) and YEAH...
add, subtract, multiply, divide... those have been
useful. The rest of it ...*enh* [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Advanced math isn't very useful, except when you do your taxes or go to the grocery store.

A store has an ad saying 3 boxes of Cocoa Crazy Sugar Puff cereal is on sale for $7.00. Another store has the same cereal on sale for 4 for $9.00.
Which is the better buy?

Can you figure it out? Great! You just used algebra!

I took math, business, and bookkeeping as main courses in high school. At the grcery store where i worked after school & after graduating, the woman let me help with the book keeping & such. Then i bought my own business, and all these helped. And English, still makes me wonder how some people can make such mistakes on some of it.

Taxes? Unless it's straight forward and simple, you'll need up to date courses for that or pay someone else.

As for the cereal thing.. still pretty basic compared to many math things very few will need.
If x-y=7+4 and n+12=50, what is the square root of 2,000? You know... things so "out there" that many just never "got it". Nope, that probably didn't make any sense, which is how many felt with all that crap. Let's not forget to teach a short way and then a long way of reaching the same answer!

Need to figure out how many square feet your living room covers? Square feet (area) equals length times width. Congratulations! You just used geometry!

A s for paying taxes, it's really not that complicated, unless you didn't pay attention in all those "useless" math and reading comprehension classes.

Tater. if taxes aren't that hard, why do the tax preparers screw up so much? no money smiley

Aren't you going to admit there were things you learned that you'll never use? lol

Sneaky, that's definitely useful!
I had to run around this area... checking out cars and prices and not settling for a lot of junk for high prices. Finally found the car I wanted for the price I wanted. Might have been a lot easier and nicer to just look them all up!

Hmm ... I guess it all depends on your definition of "useful!" giggle

I checked-out the on-line manual for a little MP3 player that I got recently... Trying to figure-out how to load songs into it. I have to look-up lots of computer-related stuff. And a "dumb bunny" like me doesn't understand half of it. All that "geek-speak" drives me nuts!

... is NOT "higher math". Any damned fool (who READS...) can do their own taxes.
Also, I took 3 (count 'em; THREE [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]) Tax-prep courses with my Mom the
CPA. Boo. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

P.S.
"Assuming" the boxes of Cocoa Crazy Sugar Puffs (?? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]) are identical...
the 4 for $9 are the better buy... BARELY.
3 @ $7.00 comes to $2.33333333 etc...
(most grocery stores will charge that at 1 box @ &2.34 and 2 boxes @ $2.33)
and the 4 boxes @ $9.00 comes to $2.22222222 yadda yadda.. (see above [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
and then... ONLY if I need FOUR BOXES.
And I don't think I will need even ONE box of Cocoa Crazy Sugar Puffs.

To be honest.. I wouldn't waste gas or time for that small of a savings anyway. lol I didn't do the exact math, but already knew it wasn't much of a difference and most people don't care about a dime, when it means a separate run or added stop.
Even that basic math, many don't bother with. They don't care about that savings.

Yup! I shop where I shop... and at the price of gasoline [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
11 cents -unless I'm buying ALL of something - there is ever gonna be...
will cost me money in the long run... and definitely cost me

Yes, I cured myself of Vertigo by searching online. It only took 2 minutes!!! I\'m okay Think what doctors charge!!! I had fallen and cracked my head on the pavement and seemed OK except for the huge lump on my head. 3 weeks later the Vertigo began. It was easy and painless to fix. Amazing!! flower
