Re: Rummage Sales!!
Wow I was the 1st to vote. Main reason i go to them is cause my wife likes to go. It is ok if you get there early, but you need to work fast to get the "Goodies"

Re: Rummage Sales!!
I have had rummage sales, sold things cheap and made room for what I really wanted to keep. lol
Also love rummage sales! Many of the ones I go to have a half price day on the last day. Some bigger, more expensive items are then more affordable.
I haven't gotten to many rummage sales this year, but plan on getting to some this coming weekend.

Re: Rummage Sales!!
A couple of weeks ago we went on the Lincoln Hwy& Rt 127 Yard sales. drove over 300 mile Rnd trip, spent 1 night in a motel. Got tired of jumping in & out of car,but a lot of places had 10-30 places set up in 1 location. Had some nice talks.

Re: Rummage Sales!!
Wow Sneaky! As much as I love rummage sales, I am not going that far out of my way for them! lol
Mostly, I just stop if I see a sign or the actual sale.

Re: Rummage Sales!!
Now to me a rummage sale and garage sales and yard sales are a little different. Rummage sale s to me are like in a big building ,like a church basement etc. and the proceeds go to that organization, and are usually 90% clothing! Yard & Garage sales are spread out all over town.

Re: Rummage Sales!!
Well, that seems to be a difference between areas? lol
Here... garage sales, rummage sales and yard sales are all about the same idea. They can be one family, a couple of families or a church one. Some churches here have free rummage sales and it's a whole lot more than just clothes. They get rid of toys, handmade blankets, housewares, books, etc.. They also give school items to families who need them. Everybody donates items and basically try to get families to come and make use of it all.
I took the lead and had a free sale too. It worked out quite well!

Re: Rummage Sales!!
Sure! I love going to those things! Been much too hot for much of that kind of thing around here, lately. Sometimes, you can find some really good stuff! Next time you have one, let me know and I will hop by and check it out. LOL

Jack... you would really be going a long ways! lol
It's been too hot here too... until more recently.
This year.. my sister is having the sale at her house and so far.. five families are adding "stuff" to it. Sometimes, setting it all up and pricing it all can be a lot of work!

Re: Rummage Sales!!
Love 'em ! and op shops !I got rid of a lot of stuff in the last year or so, a bit at a time, put out on the footpath, or taken to local Salvation Army op shop.Could have made a few bucks, but it was easier to get rid of the stuff as i found it , instead of storing it till there was enough for a garage sale.thanks for the reminder ! maybe this week end do the rounds .

Re: Rummage Sales!!
Roxanna, you may have a point about it being easier to just set it out and let someone have it, except now.. here... the city refuses to let you do that unless it's once a month, on the day they pick up bigger items for garbage. Otherwise, they now fine you and say it doesn't belong on the curb, even if it's something others would want.

Re: Rummage Sales!!
I'm not sure where the council stands on this, but things are usually gone the same day, if not sooner !!!
I put out a quite big round table, that took a couple of days.I do believe the council will give a warning if somebody complains ,but not many people seem to do that.

Re: Rummage Sales!!
Things go fast here too, but if a city worker sees it first... watch out! lol
Kind of makes me wonder if the job is slow and the workers are bored enough that they resort to silly things.
Maybe another FREE sale would be in order!

Re: Rummage Sales!!
free sale
somebody left a lounge chair out for days on end and nobody took it, so the owner put a $20.00 sign on it, and it was pinched the very next day !
i don't know if it's a true story or not, but i can believe it
