Stay Off-Topic Thread
First topic message reminder :
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Someone starts a thread and before you know it, the subject takes a nose-dive, completely off-course. Then it turns into a conversation between two or more members about something else entirely. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to respond here with an entirely different subject. You can talk about your cucumber garden, your pet hyena, the weather, what's on TV, likes-dislikes, etc. Better yet, have a conversation with one or more of the other members about things you want to talk about which have nothing to do with the original post. You can rest assured that it will be read. Remember, the one who changes the subject the furthest WINS.
... Ready? ... Set? ... Go! ...

Just what I know from reading about it. I know it's in Victoria, and Australia's second largest city, with about 4.3 million people, I believe, and quite a cosmopolitan city, from my understanding. Of course, it doesn't have one of the world's most famous opera houses, like OZ's largest city...

Melbourne is a huge city.. far too big for this country girl. I don't like going there and am always glad to go home. I live close to the Otway Ranges.. tree ferns, beaches, rainforrests.. just beautiful countryside living.

Re: Stay Off-Topic Thread
Sounds wonderful. Philly is plenty big enough for me, with 1.5 million in the city limits, and maybe 6 million in the metro area. I'm on the far edge of the city, so I'm closer to a lot of the suburbs and quiet areas than I am to center city.

Re: Stay Off-Topic Thread
In the part of Victoria I live, there is approx. 15, 000 population and if you include the surrounding area, there would be approx. another 15,000.... Five minutes drive from where I live, takes you into the countryside.. and I live in a very rural area. Melbourne's population on the other hand is just short of 4 million people. It is supposedly the most liveable city in the world.. but not for me.

The price of tea in China is approximately equal to the cost of coffee in Ecuador.

One of the scariest noises is the sound of a black walnut falling out of a tree from 80 feet above your head at 1 o'clock in the morning.

Koala bears are the cutest little things, but they aren't really bears, are they? Aren't they actually marsupials? Should this post be in the questions only thread?

Re: Stay Off-Topic Thread
Strictly speaking probably.. lol.
Koala's have a lot to bear, considering that their homes are being destroyed by the logging that is being done in their habitat.

At the risk of remaining on-topic, I wasn't aware that there were many large forests in Oz.

Risky business was a good movie. Tom Cruise was last sighted in his underwear in the many forests in Australia before he went outback and got lost a Uluru. (Ayers Rock) whilst being chased by a wild bull in the vast grasslands.
