Why is it the more things change, the more they stay the same?
It's like the "look" of something changes, but the actual "something" is still the same. Times change, people change... yet so much is as it was so long ago.

Philosophy is not my field [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] but I think the chage/no change
has to take place within people and that takes a very long time.
Some things will NEVER change.
It is the core nature of human beings and therein is the flaw in the design.
Man is confrontational and combative. Yup.
Example:
FOUR - just FOUR! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] people on Earth
(and all a FAMILY!; two from the same gene-pool)
and yet there is a murder.-?- That's gotta MEAN something!
All throughout history - even the "good-to-great" leaders have been
warriors of one kind or another. EVEN GANDHI. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Trying to change who and what we are at our core
is iffy at the very best. It may well be impossible.
Certainly is evolutionary light-years in the happening.
Some say they see a loftier purpose ; most all agree that they
are wonderful! examples of what humankind can (should?) be.
Yet - they've not had much success in changing "us".
All the centuries of genuine belief and earnest striving to follow
what Jesus -or any holy person - taught. Not a lot! of success.
Also it is a GOAL; perhaps not one that can be achieved in one
lifetime. Perhaps one has to born into destiny.
The light bulb has to want to change. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I think it's because we say -(maybe we believe it)
that we want change- (a kinder, gentler blah-blah-blah)...
but real change is hard work and most-importantly:
each individual has to REALLY want it and do the WORK.
It's like fitness and diet: most of talk about it -
how many of us REALLY do it?
I think what we REALLY want - if we were to be genuinely honest -
is for everyone to "DO IT MY WAY."
And then, there's the "I don't WANT to change -
I'm happy! as I am." group. All of us fall into that category on
something. Not the same "something", but all of us - somewhere, sometimes.
Also: not all change is good. I believe that most of all.
Even change that is perceived as "for the better"
still takes doing "THE WORK" - lip sevice alone don't git'er done.
I think that mostly, it's "talk"; we say it because we think we should.

Yup, so it would seem!
"Every man contemplates an angel in his future self."
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson --
Too bad ...
so many of them are such devils in the here and now!

Hi, Jack!
You know, it occurs to me just now
that it is barely possible that Waldo drank. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
