The children's playground in our local gardens still has this equipment for the kids to play on. It is very popular. Even with the big kids.. lol (-:
The outdoor dunny.. It was all W's Nana ever had. It was W's job to empty it when he was a lad still living with his parents. He has such "fond" memories of that particular "job".

Many cities are removing the older things as safety hazards and replacing with things I'd never
want to use.
Outhouse... we lived in one house that only had that for about a year. Then, new house and indoor plumbing! lol

I remember 35 mm cameras; in fact, I still have one. Haven't used it since I bought a digital camera, but I still have it.
I don't know what happened to my washing machine pic; when I posted it, it was a wringer washer, I swear!

The wringer washer...that makes more sense. lol
I remember them only because I still see them. I am told my mom used one when I was really little.
I have never used one and probably don't want to. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

You never actually saw milk jugs?
We got them delivered by milk men when I was a young kid, although most of ours were half gallon rectangularish bottles or even gallon bottles which were squarish. I say "ISH)", because the corners were rounded.
Yes, I remember phone booths, and the pay phones that largely replaced them before themselves being largely replaced by cell phones.

I grew up with dial phones, and even in the 80's, I worked for an owner of a company who still hadn't updated to push button phones. I tried to explain how much more efficient they were, and how much he could save on labor just by upgrading to touch tone phones, to no avail. He went out of business in the 90's.

I have two! One is exactly like your picture and the other is considered vintage! I use both! I love coffee perked instead of water just running over the grounds. The taste is SO much better!
This one is my favorite and used daily...

As a teenager, I actually found a used model with an engine attached; basically it was a self propelled reel mower. Never saw anything like it before or since.

Re: Do you remember these?
You were on the right track. It isn't a microphone; it's an outdoor speaker, for outdoor movies. Specifically, drive-in movies.
That is a floppy disk. The name is kind of ironic because it's not floppy, but the name originated when it's predecessor WAS floppy.

That's similar to the desks we had in grade school, except that the storage compartment was under the seat rather than under the top.

It took me a minute to figure out what made you post those! lol Even now, some gas pumps seem so different than the majority! There is a gas station that has been left empty for over ten years now...going to actually take notice of those pumps!

Sadly, most of the above. Does Lorry's password count?
How about "TINKERTOY"? Someone sent one over from America when I was very small. It kept me quiet for hours! I still have a Viewmaster ..... somewhere.

Thats the one! except my rods weren't coloured. It's probably the reason I'm so good at reading engineering drawings. A real educational toy! It came in a cardboard tube with a metal screw lid. They don't make them like that anymore, at least, not over here. My kids had Leggo (although I probably played with it as much as they did!).

We had VHS over here too, before they were supplanted by DVDs. the items in the picture are 8 track tapes, which were popular in the 70's, before being replaced by cassette tapes.

Re: Do you remember these?
I remember those 8 track tapes. They were pretty much a gone deal before I really understood what they were. lol I do remember people saying they didn't like it when the tape had a spot that left a blank space? No music and parts missed? Something like that!
As for VHS... I have tons and love them... much better than DVDs that are not child friendly!
Before you try to post the televisions that are now becoming "old"... I still have them! lol
Don't want the newest that are so touchy they are not family friendly!

Re: Do you remember these?
8 tracks had advantages as well as disadvantages when compared to cassette tapes and records.
One positive was that since the tape was continuous, you didn't have to flip them over, which was a big plus while driving.
The continuous loop also led to the disadvantage that you mentioned; because of the unrecordable section of tape at the end/beginning of each track, if a song carried over from one track to the next, there was a bit of dead space in between tracks.
Another downside was due to the fact that there were 4 tracks (it was called an 8 track because there were 4 tracks recorded in stereo, so there were actually 4 tracks on the left channel and 4 on the right), it was more difficult to divide an album up so that each song was played in it's entirety on one track and not carried over to the next track, at least without leaving significant dead space between tracks.
