Can you remember your OWN phone number...

Can you remember your OWN phone number...
As well as you remember phone numbers for other people? I've noticed a lot of people have to look up their own phone number or ask someone else what it is, but know phone numbers for people they call. lol

Re: Can you remember your OWN phone number...
We must know some of the same people!
I guess, people just have too many numbers to remember these days.
Are we all becoming just another number? (I hope not!)
I do good, to remember what I had for breakfast!

Re: Can you remember your OWN phone number...
I think it's mostly a matter of caller ID, especially with cell phones. In the past, we had to tell somebody our phone number, but now they know it automatically once we call them, so there's no need to repeat it over and over again, so it doesn't always become ingrained into our memory like it used to be.

Re: Can you remember your OWN phone number...
I don't have to actually look it up but it's an *...uh...?* moment.
I did have to find where I'd written it -( and this address)
when we first got this one; we'd had the same # forever!) ...
come to think of it I still think of that one first. I also write
"Scottsdale" before I can stop myself !
Maybe (?) the people who are looking it up have a new one too?
Mostly I figure the reason for *uh...?* is I never call me.
I finally gave up calling my # because not once - not ever!
was I there when I called me. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Tater,
Yup! That, and Speed Dialing. Somehow, when at a
pay phone or someone else's home, "#2 on Speed Dial"
doesn't help very much. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Tater and Ja'aj... you both have good points.
Maybe we need someone to teach us that it's important to know your address, phone number and such? lol

You too huh? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I do actually write stuff down
and tell someone out loud - somehow that helps me
remember stuff. Just reading it doesn't always -
or usually - stick with me... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Someone made a hilarious! and dead-on-for-me
pie chart for "time-spent". it was something like:
7 % eating; 12 % sleeping; 30 % working ;
51% looking for things I just had ! right here... !

Re: Can you remember your OWN phone number...
breezey, we have all those in one here to ,but that doesn't suit me.
i got a landline for when the electrcity goes of,or the broadband drops out,so i pay the rental on that,
how ever net phone is a lot cheaper and i use that for making calls.
the bundled one is ,as of today, disconected.
and the mobile doesn't count, rarely use it, at present can't even find it !! so now i have 2 phone numbers and an almost useless mobile.

Re: Can you remember your OWN phone number...
Rox,
Us too, here.
I don't have a cell phone, (or a "net" phone)
but PJ and Ernest do have cell phones and sometimes Greg.
The ISP is an "automatic dial" when I ask it to connect.
No way! would I rely on just a cell phone;
a landline is the only one I trust.

I hope it's 'really fixed' this time too.
Does it have anything to do with being surrounded by water?
I know that here anyway, water and harsh weather are the
enemies of phone cable...

Re: Can you remember your OWN phone number...
quite frankly Jaaj , i think Telstra is the shittiest people one would ever have the misfortune to deal with !!
the water is only around the coast line and shouldn't affect the phone lines ,anyway, it seems ok now, but i don't TRUST ém !!

Re: Can you remember your OWN phone number...
I don't know how you keep up
with all these multiple numbers and multiple phone lines.
I think I've developed an aversion to using a phone!
Oh, horror of all horrors! ...
Ya think I'll DIE if I'm not "connected 24/7?"
(That's what the phone companies want us to believe!)

Re: Can you remember your OWN phone number...
Hey, Bunny - [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
"We" spent a great deal of time convincing folks
they couldn't possibly live a normal life without a phone. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
(And it is STILL the "phone" - internet or dialtone. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
I know what you mean - I was BORN with the phone receiver
in my hand - ready to place a call.
I spent 23/7/363 with at least one phone attached to my ear.
My brother is the one who said, "Go to work for the phone company
and get some of your money BACK!" - So I did.
(When he's right; he's right. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] )
All of a sudden (or so it seemed, anyway), I was over it and
now my general reaction to a phone call is,
"I'm pretty-sure that if it was anyone I wanted to talk to -
I would have called them ." [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Of course, on occassion, it turns out I'm wrong about that... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Greg and Kristi (roomate/friend/sneak-in-the-grass) CONSPIRED!
(read: SNEAKED ! - BEHIND MY BACK !) with my Mom to pay
the deposit, hookup, etc (The phones had always been in my name;
I got the " DISCOUNTS !" ) - heh [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - so that they could put the
damned thing in Greg's name. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I came home one day - and by damn! - the phone rang. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
But THEN...
I discovered the INTERNET... and it's same ol'; same ol'
- without the sore ear.
(Does anyone see a "pattern", here...? ) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
