What happens to all the more major items junked out? Empty What happens to all the more major items junked out?

It seems some think of it as recycling... old fridges, stoves, and even more really major items... what happens to all that stuff? Is it all kept here or shipped out somewhere else? Does anyone know? I am keeping in mind that more major things will also come from companies and corporations.

I know that a lot of the usable items are sold at auctions...

Is there any truth in some things called "recycling" being sent to China? Any idea?

I think I am on to something here...

Researchers detected high levels of toxic metals in more than 70 samples
collected in March from industrial waste, river sediment, soil and
groundwater around the southern Chinese city of Guiyu and the suburbs of
New Delhi, according to the report by Greenpeace International. Dust
from dismantling workshops contained the highest levels of contaminants.

Nope, none. I don't have any idea what you're talking about. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Very interesting article, Breezey. I was not aware this was going on, and it's one more reason to avoid Chinese products. I hesitate to buy anything at Walmart anymore, since the majority of the products they sell, since they are mostly made in China by exploited workers making literally pennies per hour, in often very harsh conditions.

Are you aware that the large majority of garlic is now coming from China? Or a very large portion of the fish you buy? Can you imagine the environmental conditions where these products are harvested?

I highly recommend checking the labels before you buy, as most of these types of products are mandated to state where they are from. Mind you, don't just look for the distributors address, as they are often sold by companies with American addresses, but look for the words,
"Product of________"

Whether you buy fresh or packaged seafood and produce, they must disclose this, and you'd be amazed how much of it comes from China, if you're not accustomed to looking for this information.

There are a lot of things I am not aware of... and no way I can know all the ones I am not aware of.
That article had a lot of interesting information that I never would have known otherwise.

Tater,
The mercury content is fish is becoming astornomical. Especially in
the fish cminfg from China.
To say nothing of the LEAD in the paint China uses to paint the things
they export to us...
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT and TOYS being among the larger
(offensive and deadly) items.
