Re: how many cars have you had ?
I have NO idea how many cars I have owned. Too many too count!!! Usually, I ended up with crappy ones that just barely got me around.
I remember my first car because I really loved that car. It was a Ford Mustang. It was red with black stripes on both sides. It had a hood scoop and spoiler and looked really neat!
Here is one that looks a lot like it, except this one doesn't have all the extras on it...

Re: how many cars have you had ?
Simple things.... check oil, oil change, change a tire, rotate tires (if we want to), tune ups and many other things... we do at home.
If something more major needs to be done, we take the car to a garage.

Re: how many cars have you had ?
My first car was a '68 Dodge Coronet 440, which I traded my bicycle for. Then I had a 71 Ford Maverick, a 74 Ford Pinto, a 77 AMC Gremlin, a 1980 Ford Econoline van, an 88 Subaru Justy, an 87 Mercury Lynx (same as a Ford Escort), an 86 Ford Mustang, and presently, a 95 Ford Probe. The first two were V-8 engines, the Pinto was a 4 cyl., the next two had 6 cylinders, and all the rest were 4 cylinders. The Gremlin, van, Justy, and Lynx were manual transmissions, and the rest of them were automatics. I bought all of them used except for the Justy. I also bought a new 90 Geo Prism with my wife, which I let her keep when we got divorced.
In the early days I did most work myself, even replacing a starter, alternator and master brake cylinder, but nowadays I leave all but the very basics to a trusted mechanic.

Re: how many cars have you had ?
My very fist car was a 1960 Ford Falcon , we called it the frog. I got rid of it once the front axel broke, next came a 1964 Buick Skylark, that was a great car, even good in the snow with snow tires on the rear. Next was a 1960 Ford Econoline Van that I drove from N.Y. to CA. with no problems. Once I got my first real job with Crown Zellerbach Paper Co. in Ca. I bought a new International 1972 Scout 2. I loved that ride. I had skid plates under the whole vehicle, flowmaster exhaust and when we changed engines it had a 304, we went to a 345, we had to cut a hole in the hood because the manifold was so big, then put a low profile corvette scoop on it. Oh it was mean. I had big tires on it, and it would go anywhere. I had that SUV from 1972 to 2000, then sold it when I moved over here. I also had a 1955 Chevy pick up with a 350, headers, sun roof, it was my first firewood truck. I got 6 fix it tickets on it and finally sold it. When all 8 cylinders kicked in that old truck flew. Then I bought a Chevy pick up 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive but it soon went to the junk yard, then I scored for a 1000 dollars a 1966 Ford 1 ton dump truck for my firewoood business. I loved that old truck. It hauled a lot of firewood, it made me a lot of money. I sold it when I moved over here and now own a 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport I bought brand new here. I put aluminum steps, the pipe kind on it, biggger tires, and it only has not quite 33,000 miles on it. I love my Jeep, it's a soft top, amber fire in color with a black top. I don't work on them anymore like I used too, everything is computer so I let the dealer take care of it. I get the oil changed every 3,000, and keep up on all maint. Then I bought my wife a brand new 2009 Jeep Compass. Thats fun too but I like my Jeep better.

Wow Ron, If you kept that old battle wagon for 28 years, it must have been pretty reliable!

Re: how many cars have you had ?
Tater it was bullet proof. I got 138,000 out of the first motor, I had to put in 2 new rear ends, had the tranny rebuilt, new brakes, drums, spring packs, shocks, you name it, I replaced it. Then my friend painted it an imron green. When things broke, I just put new parts on it. I remember I paid 3600 for that vehicle, and after all the work my friend had done to it he was a mechanic for a living, I sold that sucker for 9,000. I got my money back out of it. It was not easy to get parts later on because IH stopped making them. I found a guy in the Bay Area thats all he did was sell used parts, actually he helped me to sell that vehicle. The guy I sold it too used to have one but totalled it, when he saw mine he flipped out. I had all the repair invoices, everything , even the manual, the complete manual from IH. I am a Jeep man now.

Re: how many cars have you had ?
First one was a 1951 Packard,My favorite was a 55 Ford Convertible w/Continental kit and loud mufflers, Have had 3 vans,3 trucks 3 different convertibles. all total that i recall have been 20 vehicles so far. I changed plugs and oil & filter 1 time, and decided to let that to the mechanics from then on.
