So many things factor into how and why people do things.. but I often wondered why many frown upon adult children living at home with parents and what the rush is to shove everyone out the door. And why we want to have it like that when it saves money and leaves more homes available... and serves the family unit better to live together until having a family of their own...
I ramble, but please... GET IT! lol

Many young adults are staying living with their parents here. But there are also many youths that leave home to live with their mates or partners. It does make sense for them to stay home as long as they can, for all the reasons you mention. I think it is an individual thing for what suits each family. Not many force their kids to move out here.

I just wonder about it since I believe in some places family stays together... sometimes, even after someone gets married... and other places, people see it as awful if anyone stays with parents as adults.

Not one size fits all I guess. Families come in all shapes and sizes. Beliefs and disbeliefs. What is right for some is not right for the other.

There's definitely a cultural factor involved. Americans have always emphasized independence, which implies going it alone, and not relying on assistance from others. Many other cultures have a much heavier expectation that children will remain with the family well into their adult years.

I would think it helps all concerned to work together instead of dividing and each having more to pay and do.
I never saw a need for children to rush to pay for a place of their own when they could save money and put it towards a home when they finally get with someone.

I agree that it is definitely a cultural thing. It makes perfect sense for young adults to stay at home as long as they need to.. or want to.

As long as it is mutually beneficial to parents and offspring alike, it makes sense for young adults to remain at home, but I do think they should be asked to help out with room and board as well as chores.

Most definitely Tater. Many hands make light work.. and all need to be responsible or it just doesn't work.
