Are you picking on me, problem child? lol
Are you picking on me, problem child? lol
not you, but the language and how it's used,I find it fascinating how we have differences in every country English is spoken. The Z thing seems to be American, many words use Z, not the S we would use here,I've even seen Tasmania spelled Tazmania.
we use ou where you guys use o a lot more.
there was a TV series called 'The story of English' fascinating ,hope there will be a repeat ,missed lots of it.
PS finally my little brain has figured out it takes just 2 clicks with the mouse, and I can copy paste just a highlighted part of your posts ,with out going through all that rigmarole I did before !
Well... lately, I have to stop myself from spelling colors with a U in it. lol And it seems that many things I spell with an s, others use that z. I'm a misfit!

What are you reading, Bree?
Because, I find that if I'm reading something written
by an Englishman/woman I tend to fall right in line
with their spelling.
What am I reading? I don't know... does Roxanna spell colors with a u? lol
And there it is!
I think it just happens when I see it often enough. lol

I have to wonder why colors doesn't have a u. colour, flour, sour, dour, hour
I see that our language stinks as far as spelling goes. Just sound it out... you realize that doesn't always work, right? lol
Was I supposed to use an s or z in realize? lol

"Was I supposed to use an s or z in realize?"
That depends on whether you are using British English or American English; we have a tendency to spell things the way they sound.
Meanwhile, is this the new off-topic thread?

Well, my first thought when I asked myself this very serious question was....
Geeslings?
I did think of gooslings, but with baby geese, there is usually more than one, and goose is singular, so wouldn't saying gooslings be sort of like saying gooses? (or would that be geeses?)

What might have been the thinking behind:
'drake', 'cob', or 'gosling' for that matter?
I know there is (was? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]) a 'rule' about making a
noun plural but hell if I remember what it is.
I always liked Shelly Berman's rif on it:
..."1 blouse = 2 blice; 1 kleenex= 2 kleenasee; 1 sheriff = 2 sheriffim"... etc.
