Re: What's going on for Christmas?
nope, leaving it all to the last minute, not much to do anyway,my daughter does the christmas dinner, has done so for years, got the big dining area . gifts will be easy, one huge goodie basket for the whole family, must find out what dvds they're collecting at the moment .looking forward to it, first christmas in their new house.
Same as i have doone since i was a kid Will be at my dads home with all the family. Eat some food, play some games and instead of exchanging names,we all take an unmarked gift, put them in the middle of the floor then draw numbers. When it is your turn you can either pick a gift out of the pile or steal from someone else, then that person gets to get a different one. This goes on till the last one is picked then we open them up. Thjis is done after the kids get to open their stuff. Fun way!
I can't leave it all til the last minute! Some stuff has a ways to go, ya know! lol
Plus... I did say I'd send home made things this year.... that takes time!
Sneaky, here... we take turns each night before Christmas and open gifts from each person. Christmas day, the little ones open what Santa left. Beginning to wonder if that Santa idea is really such a good thing.
Anyway...Usually, about seven days before Christmas, one person hands out the gifts he/she bought for others and that goes on each night til Christmas eve. Christmas day, nobody goes anywhere and we just make a meal and spend the day together, as a family.

When mum and dad were still with us, we all were at their house Christmas eve,the gifts were piled up under the tree, always a real one,and gifts were shared at midnight. At one time we went to midnight Mass, but some how the family lost track of that.we all brought good food to share ,and only a little bit to drink (alcoholic) Christmas eve was the most important part, christmas day,we did the aussie thing ,traditional dinner, similar to yours, later in the afternoon we took more food to mums and a great time was had by all.We had a double dip, celebrating eve european way, and day aussie way!
the yahooing, dancing and drinking was for new years eve, and you wouldn't even think to stop till you saw the sun come up,

Ohhh ... there are a few things "in the works" ... but I'm sworn to secrecy and I promised Santa that I'd be good. (And, yes ... that IS possible!)Breezey Breezey wrote:Have you done anything involving Christmas yet?

Jack, is that you? Could have sworn some bunny said he'd be good and that it's possible! lol

I will hibernate on Christmas. My family is all gone now so it is not the best time of the year for me. I'll watch TV specials and get on the net and watch it snow. So nothing exciting here.
Daisy, I wasn't sure what to say to that. It's sad.
I remember when my mom first died. That first Thanksgiving without her... it was awful. My mom always had us children and our children come to her house for that. That first year, I took my children to a church that was offering a free dinner. It was probably the best thing I could have done.
Other people with no families were there and many women took right over with my children... they said they would be grandmas for them. That REALLY touched my heart. A lot of sad and lonely people had smiles and things to share, which we never would have known... had we not all gone to that church dinner.
