Re: What is so awful about a weeping willow tree?
Well my neighbor has one and it hangs in my yard . I get most all his leaves but the worst is those long twigs fall of and plays heck with my mowerand their roots can really mess up drains. Just my opinion.

they are beautiful, in the right place ,near water and a long way from homes.
had big problems when a neighbours willow roots got in my drains ,they are not for back yards.

I see the points... just trying to figure out why.... after a tree is full grown, beautiful and been there for many years... WHY someone would cut off all the branches and just leave a four foot high stump (trunk). It's not going to fix any root problems and looks awful.

Two houses down, the guy cut it down and left that stump. THEN... he put some dirt around it, then bricks and planted two flowers. It's not my idea of beautiful or nice. It stinks. It's a constant reminder of something beautiful gone forever.

Re: What is so awful about a weeping willow tree?
you would be FAMOUS !! all the treehuggers would come out in support, me included ....but it probably wouldn't make much of a difference at this stage ..
BTW, do you hug trees, or is that a silly question ??

I don't know ... I LOVE them, myself!
Thye're sooo pretty and friendly to a tree-lover.
I DO hug trees, BTW. Plus - they (Weeping Willows)give good shade!
I only once heard anything negative about them - by someone
who had several growing in their yard - Apparently they make
a mess. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Since I've never had one to care for -
(or clean up after?)
I don't know;I just love 'em - and here in AZ we don't have
them to speak of - maybe they need lots of moisture?

I guess you've had one to look after?

Bree,
Probably the guy (SHAME! on him! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] )
will remove the stump - after it dies.
If it's an old tree that's a big deal! - and
he's probably gonna need a backhoe.
