What one book did you read... :: Comments
When I was a lot younger, I mistakenly thought all movies made from books were going to be the same.
Imagine my disappointment when I saw the movie Cujo, after reading the book.
Imagine my disappointment when I saw the movie Cujo, after reading the book.
No WAY! would I have watched that!
One thing I've learned -
See the movie first - then read the book, because
if you do it the other-way-round, they are never! as good.
Really, they can't be - A book takes as long as it takes;
movies are finite. Most are two hours, give or take, max.
Even GWTW was four hours! and they left out 3 children and ...
it just can't be done.
Of course, some of the movies I've seen should have
been forbbidden to use the Title. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
"I ROBOT" - okay movie -NOTHING!, except the Title -
was anything like the book.I saw "Exodus" -wonderful film! -
... so I read the book. GREAT! BOOK.
I still like the movie. It's okay...inda ... but it is NOT
the same as before I read the book. Not even close.
I read the book about once every 3 years or so.
It is one of my Top Two all-time favorites.
I'm sure that -somewhere- is a movie that is MUCH!
better than the book. Probably.
I wouldn't know because I didn't read the book.
However...
The "Jason Bourne" movies - made MUCH! better sense
to me than the books.
Ludlum is one of my favorite authors - but BOY, are
his books complicated!
I have never seen a movie that was a good as the book.

I read Forrest Gump, and the sequel, but I read both of them after I had seen the movie.

Yeah, they really can't win that one - not enough time -
or money! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
"No Country For Old Men" is a good movie!
I had no idea it was a book.
Hmmm.... do tell... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Thanks, Dizz.
ofcourse the movies have to be somewhat condensed ,but i think the spirit of it was excellent in : gone with the wind, the world acording to garp, catch 22,
none of james mitchners books work as movies, if you have read the books. and movies based on bible stories are usually overacted ,and therby lose the message .

Rox,
Yup, GWTW captured the "point", I think.
Also it's FOUR hours... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Movies should be seen first, I think, and then when I read the
book I get all the details.
