Have you read Stephen King's book "Cell"?
Just wondering about thoughts on it. I kind of think it doesn't sound too far fetched to be a possibility of what could happen.

Hi! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And... when you say "a possibility of what could happen."
Which possibility do you mean? I'm not qualified to speak to
the possibility of "something" (someone?) sending a pulse to take
over people's minds - and don't see the point.
A mistake maybe? Undiscovered by the sender?
Nah... 'they' retailate when Ridell and the others "destroy" the
zombie-types.
THAT I can see happening, possibly.
Nothing like blind irrational panic -followed by the usual
"Let's kill it!" we've come to recognize as purely human to
sell a sci-fi novel. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Seriously, the first thing I thought of when I read your question
was the insane manner in which decent, everyday folk behaved
when HIV/AIDS was first announced to the general public.
Acquitted ourselves nicely there, didn't we? Yeah.
THAT part was believable...
I found "Cell" (as I recall) to be sort of beneath King.
I may not be a fair respondent here - it was so ugly and so
repetitious in it's ugliness! that I skipped as lot of pages hoping
to get to the thread of the story again.
AND... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ...
I thought the ending was a cop-out !
Much more Koontz' style than King's.
Koontz NEVER knows how to end his books.
HUGS!

Re: Have you read Stephen King's book "Cell"?
Haha! I am only half way done with the book and have no idea if it's good or bad!
I think... there are a lot of things possible... especially the human behavior. I even remember the part about the woman with the Bible.
It sure makes you really think about how people can be...
As for the cell phone part.... ya never know what might go wrong and just drive people nuts.... science fiction isn't always so far off track. Not saying it can actually happen, but wonder if something like it is at all possible with the way technology is going.

"Haha" ? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
What if I had told the ending in my brilliant critique?
Huh? What then?
(I've seen your act before, little Missy... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
I absolutely agree that technology will eventually send
us all back to the stone age screaming all the way.
Some of us much, much! sooner than others. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I just seriously doubt it will be by malicious intent...
unless you count greed and/or the desire to make money.
God love capitalism, free enterprise... and all that.
Still... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Also, I'm a big fan of :
"Proof of intelligent life on other planets is evidenced by the fact
that NONE have visited us."
Also known -at our house- as:
"Keep driving Martha! They're still killing one another!" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Intelligent life on other planets don't come here? lol What are you implying? lol
As for the ending of the book, I have faith in you to just KNOW not to tell me! lol
Technology is already becoming a bit "much".... at least for me, it is.

Oh... I think you know what I'm implying. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
We are sooo not accepting of the unknown.
"What is that thing, Irving?"
Hell if I know, Bob; kill it!"
"Good idea."
Umm-hmmm. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
"Just know...?"
Certainly. For instance I would NEVER ... Oh hell.
I can't do it. I can't even make something up. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Reading material is sacred. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Reading material is sacred. lol Thank you, Ja'aj. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
A lot of times, the unknown is scary and not something we want to deal with. Kind of hard to be rational when dealing with a lot of unknown factors, isn't it?

P.S.
It's still dumb, though - the ending. IMO, of course. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
