Is the "INTERNET ON STRIKE" ? Empty Is the "INTERNET ON STRIKE" ?

Post by Ja'aj Wed Jan 18, 2012 4:39 pm

Hm ... FYI: (This is in my email Inbox today):[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]From Mozilla, a non-profit organization and developer of Firefox

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Today, Mozilla is joining the virtual strike against Internet censorship
– along with others like Wikipedia and Google – to raise awareness of
US Congress legislation that could fundamentally alter the Internet we
know and love.

This harmful legislation, called the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in
the House and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate, will be voted on
as early as January 24th in the Senate.

If you live in the US, there's still time to help stop these bills from becoming law. Please visit [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for information on the bill, and on ways you can reach out to your senators.

What makes this legislation so bad? Here's how it would change the Web:

  • Communication platforms – from YouTube to Facebook to Amazon – could be shut down if a single rights holder alleges a violation.
  • It would make the Web less stable and less secure.
  • Social networking sites, like Twitter or Facebook, could be
forced to track and control user behavior, stunting innovation and
    undermining free expression.
  • Your Internet provider could be required to inspect all of your traffic and browsing.

Visit [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] right now for information – and make your voice heard before it's too late.

Please [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], and help protect the Internet.

Sincerely,

Jane & Winston

Not the whole internet, but some of it. Wikipedia basically had a black out... when I checked.
Seems to be big news and I can't say I blame anyone for striking.

Me either.
Actually, it has been "left alone" a lot
longer than I had thought it would be.

Ya know... eventually, we'll most likely have big changes in internet use.
seems like this is a first attempt, but other kinds will follow.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Sneaky, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Yeah... so it seems. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Bree's topic
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
is underway about this... ? change/increase/...
'offense', maybe? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Yeah! that's i t ! "Offense"! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Phooey on 'em ! (Also, bah. . . (IMO[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.], of course. .. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])

Bree, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Yes, indeedy. The self-righteous (see: moral morons") at work. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It is sooo much! easier to (again) impose their POV on everyone -
regardless of age and other people's personal ethics.
"Mind Thy Own Business" aka "Butt out!" is a good one, I think...[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
(I don't want ! to grow Halos in my garden, thankyouverymuch;;
I will grow Lazy Susans.) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Which ^ would, naturally, mean that these ,"My way is the ONLY way"
idjits (<-- isn't that a great ! word: "idjits" ? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ) to keep an eye on their
OWN children - [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] OMG! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]! Obviously that is out of the question!

Thank God "they" invented the "V" chip/program/whatever for T.V. sets,
or else by now the moral morons of our community [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
(yeah, them; they used to wear jack boots;it made 'em easier to identify.)
would have seen to it the only things available via that medium would be cartoons (ones that had been "approved" (?) of course) and some
("some being the key word) religious programs - that depending, of course,
on what 'religion' is on the "approved" list.
I'm amazed that the moral morons had time to procreate; they don't have
time to raise their own children.
(Aaaayund ... we're back ! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] .) to your topic :
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Good grief.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And that ! boys and girls, brings me back (yet again)
to, "I love mankind; it's people I can't stand."
