Serious question and looking for others thoughts.... Empty Serious question and looking for others thoughts....

If we aren't supposed to blame God or anyone else for our problems, then why do so many say God should get all the glory for what is right or we accomplish in life? Is that not a little like a double standard?

First of all, many people take things out of context. Secondly, if we are honest with ourselves, we will see tht most of our problems are the result of our own choices. It may seem like a double standard, but God wants us to lean on him for guidance and we are to humble ourselves and acknowledge that help.

He allows us free choice to do what we want and to choose what path we want to take. It is wrong to blame God for the wrongdoings, even the evil things man does to mankind, and that includes neglect.

I remember years ago there was a severe famine in Africa. Every nation knew of it, and pitiful little was sent to the starving people. After countless people had suffered and died, a news crew from somewhere went and interviewed a doctor. He said people were asking where is God, to allow such dreadful suffering? The doctor looked at the camera and said ' where is man?'

Sorry to ramble on, but that is how I understand it. I is so amazing to feel and know you are being protected and guided when you ask for it....and believe me, you don't always get what you want. Sometimes it is no, and sometimes it is far better. We just simply need to ask Him in earnest.

Jesus even said You will always have the good and the bad in life ,but you will only have Me for a little while.( Not the exact words, but same meaning) We are givin the choice rather it is right or wrong!

Here's an oversimplification I figured out for myself, and when I look at it this way, I don't know why I didn't figure it out much earlier in life, in Catholic grade school even. They taught us that God is good. It even says that in the bible. Well, you all know I am interested in wordplay. Take the word God, add one letter, and God becomes good. Simple, right?

Take it one step further, and subtract one letter from devil, and then the devil is evil. So now God is good, and the devil is evil. Now one of the main tenets of Christianity is that we have the free will to choose between good and evil. Put it all together, and it is up to us to choose between good, and God, or evil, and the Devil.

Okay... I'm learning a lot here. Just wondering why we should take the blame for problems and things going wrong, but not take the glory for the good. Seriously, shouldn't whomever takes the blame also get the glory?

No but seriously Breezey, you have a good point, and I don't think something's quite right about that either. If we do have free will to choose between good and evil, we should at least be given credit for making the right choice. Now the way I was taught was that basically, heaven was our just reward for living a good life and treating others well, "do unto others...", trying not to sin and asking God for forgiveness when we fail, etc..., but then other denominations say it's not enough to be good, we have to be saved, or be born again (Jeez, who on earth would want to go through THAT twice?) find Jesus, or whatever. I'm with Forest Gump here, I didn't know he was lost...

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] and D O G spelled backwards is GOD. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The way I see it:
God is only about good. He hasn't anything to do with bad.
I like that; it has simplified sooo much ! for me.
It's not an original thought; I listened to a priest (?)
- someone - on TV explain that to a child (ten-ish) on 9/11.
(That's when it really started to sink in and piss me off -
watching those kids trying to make sense of it.)
MANKIND is solely responsible for the bad.
We don't need help and should take all the credit.

I also think we DO get credit for the "good" - the things
we do that God has tought us to regard as "good".
(Allegedly someone is keeping score. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
Plus we (some of us) have also be taught that all things good
come to us from God; the Earth, food, our intelligence, etc.
We know right from wrong.
