Paul English is Willie Nelson's longtime drummer who started playing with him in Fort Worth in 1955. In the early days, one of his duties was to serve as a strong armed collection agent for overdue payments from club owners for the band. Paul resides in Dallas, TX

refused to hire the musicians (Willie, Waylon, Kris, etc.)
who wore levis and beards instead of all that crap with the

I do know -first hand- that since the very early days,
Paul has always carried a .45 in his boot. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
They played a lot! of really, really bad bars -
(chicken wire and bottle-throwing drunks) in the "good ol' days".
Paul has always had Willie's back.
Willie, in return , has always has everybody's back.
Watch Paul sometime... even now, when they're working -
no matter where the gig is - Paul is always, always watching
the crowd.
He reminds me of a Secret Service Agent - with a better cover.
