Re: Totally Useless (or not) Fact of the Day
When traveling in Russia, gift giving is different than in North America or Western Europe. Women appreciate receiving cosmetics, because they also are scarce in almost all Eastern European countries. When giving flowers, avoid giving those that are yellow, as this is a sign of grieving or separation. When invited to a home, it is proper social etiquette for a guest to bring a bottle of wine or chocolate, but nothing too expensive. Vodka is always an acceptable gift.
Remember this, next time you're traveling in Russia!

The Hall situated on a parklike site at the foot of magnificent Pikes Peak, is the only museum in the United States devoted exculsively to rodeo and the individuals and animals who have made it a world-class sporting event.

In 1994, singer/musician Paul McCartney sent back his razor, shaving cream, and other products to the Gillette Co. to protest the manufacturer's use of animals in the product testing. In his letter to Gillette's chief executive, the former Beatle demanded a refund, which he said he would donate to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Table tennis was originally played with balls made from champagne corks and paddles made from cigar-box lids. It was created in the 1880s by James Gibb, a British engineer who wanted an invigorating game he could play indoors when it was raining. Named "Gossima," the game was first marketed with celluloid balls, which replaced Gibb's corks. After the equipment manufacturer renamed the game "Ping-Pong" in 1901, it became a hot seller.
