Re: Thought Provoking Songs
Good songs. I like them all.... probably BECAUSE they are thought provoking.

Bunny!
Wonderful songs!
(Bob Dylan wrote "Blowing In The Wind", ya know...
'm STILL being amazed when I dicover Dylan wrote
songs I've listened to FOREVER...)
Jim Croce wrote some of the FUNNIEST songs I've ever heard -
and smart "deep" songs...
and my 2nd-favorite love song "Time In A Bottle"
It's one of those songs I feel I should have written.
I'm also a BIG fan of CCR ...
(like there might be someone who isn't... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
the stories are alternately hilarious, "deep", and seriously
"thought-provoking".

Re: Thought Provoking Songs
For What It's Worth
Written by Stephen Stills
Buffalo Springfield
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Re: Thought Provoking Songs
Goodbye Ron. We miss you.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Oh we never know where life will take us
I know it's just a ride on the wheel
And we never know when death will shake us
And we wonder how it will feel
So goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the time together through all the years
Will take away these tears
It's okay now
Goodbye my friend
I've seen a lot things that make me crazy
And I guess I held on to you
We could've run away and left well maybe
But it wasn't time and we both knew
So goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the love you gave me through all the years
Will take away these tears
I'm okay now
Goodbye my friend
Life's so fragile and love's so pure
We can't hold on but we try
We watch how quickly it disappears
And we never know why
But I'm okay now
Goodbye my friend
You can go now
Goodbye my friend

"FIRE AND RAIN"
by (Sweet Baby James) James Taylor
Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to
I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again
Won't you look down upon me, Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way
Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again
Been walking my mind to an easy time my back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things
to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground
Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now
Thought I'd see you one more time again
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain, now

RAINY DAY PEOPLE
- Gordy Lightfoot [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Rainy day people always seem to know when it's time to call.
Rainy day people don't talk
they just listen till they've heard it all.
Rainy day lovers don't lie when they tell you
they've been down like you.
Rainy day people don't mind if you're cryin' a tear or two.
If you get lonely, all you really need is that rainy day love.
Rainy day people all know there's no sorrow
they can't rise above.
Rainy day lovers don't love any others
that would not be kind.
Rainy day people all know how it hangs
on their peace of mind.
Rainy day lovers don't lie when they tell you
they've been down there, too.
Rainy day people don't mind if you're cryin' a tear or two.
Rainy day people always seem to know
when you're feelin' blue
I steps and stutters around in the gutters
sometimes need one, too.
Take it or leave it or try to believe it,
if you've been down too long,
Rainy day lovers don't hide love inside, they just pass it on.
Rainy day lovers don't hide love inside, they just pass it on.

Re: Thought Provoking Songs
He had white horses
And ladies by the score
All dressed in satin
And waiting by the door
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was
White lace and feathers
They made up his bed
A gold covered mattress
On which he was laid
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was
He went to fight wars
For his country and his king
Of his honor and his glory
The people would sing
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was
A bullet had found him
His blood ran as he cried
No money could save him
So he laid down and he died
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was

Re: Thought Provoking Songs
What About Me? -- by Moving Pictures
Well there's a little boy
waitin' at the counter of a corner shop
He's been waitin`down there, waitin`half the day
They never ever seem to have the time
He gets pushed around, knocked to the ground
He gets to his feet and he says;
'What about me?', it isn't fair
I've had enough now I want my share
Can't you see? ... I wanna live!
But you just take more than you give ...`
Well there's a pretty girl
servin`at the counter of a corner shop
She's been waitin`back there, waitin`for her dream
And dreams walk in and out, they never stop
Well she's not too proud to cry out loud
She runs to the street and she screams;
'What about me?', it isn't fair
I've had enough now I want my share
Can't you see? ... I wanna live!
But you just take more than you give ...`
(More than you give)
Take a step back and see the little people
There's nothin there but the words
that make the big people big
So listen, as they whisper;
`What about me? ...'
Now we're standin' on the corner of a world gone home
Nobody's changed, nobody's been saved
And I'm feelin`cold and alone
I guess I'm lucky, I smile a lot
But sometimes I wish for more than I've got ...
'What about me?', it isn't fair
I've had enough now I want my share
Can't you see? ... I wanna live!
But you just take more ...
What about me?! It isn't fair!
I've had enough now I want my share!
Can't you see? ... I wanna live!
But you just take more,
You just take more,
You just take more than you give ...
What about me?
What about me?
What about me?

Re: Thought Provoking Songs
Let Your Spirit Fly
When you walk your longest mile
When you face your hardest trial
If it hurts too much to cry
Let your spirit fly
There will be love on the wind
There will be hope in the end
So let us go, you and I
And let our spirits fly
I will be there by your side
And we will try to catch the wind and ride
Above the heartache and the pain
Above the dark and never-ending rain
Oh, this I swear
I will try
To help your spirit fly
May you be wise
May you be kind
May you be happy with what you find
May you dance on higher ground
May you hear a simple sound
And never have to question why
Just let your spirit fly
I will be there
There will be time
You will be a lover
And a friend of mine
And this I swear
I will try
To help your spirit fly
When we arise from this sleep
There will be promises to keep
And if we must say goodbye
Let your spirit fly
Oh, and if we must say goodbye
Let your spirit fly!

Re: Thought Provoking Songs
Friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet
When our wings have trouble remembering how to fly
They stand by us and give us
the strength to try
Friends are quiet angels
Who somehow make you see
The light that's in the darkness
before the dawn
All at once the journey's not so long
But it's the laughter and the fun
Sometimes the feeling that we're one
All the tears we cry together you and I
That will keep us heart to heart
as time goes by
Friends are quiet angels
Who fill your life with grace
Thrilled to share your joy
when a dream comes true
And on this special day
I'm blessed 'cause I can say
I've found a quiet angel
You're a special angel
I found a quiet angel in you
Who lift us to our feet
When our wings have trouble remembering how to fly
They stand by us and give us
the strength to try
Friends are quiet angels
Who somehow make you see
The light that's in the darkness
before the dawn
All at once the journey's not so long
