Rude awakenings might be kids fighting, tv too loud, etc...
Or... how about waking up with a headache? Hmmm...?

It doesn't have to be a literal "rude awakening".
It also means "about to learn the facts" / "reality check" -
like the people who considered themselves lucky (!?)
to get to have Bernie Madoff handle their investments.

Or the parent who trumpets to all within hearing about,
"My kid"(s) would NEVER ... (fill in the blank / pick one)
only to have "my kid" appear on the Six O'clock News
-and NOT for "Local Kid i s A Hero" ...
