When someone you really don't know decides to tell you all about their own good qualities... how great they are inside and out... that they are really wonderful in all ways?

Just recently.. I got the impression of the person being a bit vain... ?

I have never heard that song done that way.  I like it. smile2 

I never understood why people need to brag themselves up to others... I do remember commenting once that nobody else has to brag a person like that up because they do so for themselves.

That's the original version. She wrote it about Warren Beatty, who she dated at one time.

I am generally repulsed by the type of people you refer to. When I encounter somebody like that, I can't get away fast enough.

I get this feeling of "amazement" that a person can actually say all of that about him or herself and not feel it's overkill. lol

I know what you mean. Maybe they are actually overcompensating for lack of a good self image? Either that or they are sociopaths..

Perhaps they don't realise that they do it. Or perhaps they speak about themselves to make conversation because they don't know how to talk to others.. Or perhaps they are just vain... and know it.. but think it is acceptable. Perhaps no one has ever told them how boring it can be to listen to someone continually singing their own praises. lol
