Chalk paint... has anyone actually used this paint?

Have you seen anyone use chalk paint for furniture or other items?
Wondering what makes it more desirable than latex paint... especially when pricing the two kinds.

Chalk paint and chalkboard paint are two different things.
Well! I went looking for a description of chalk paint and found a whole article to explain it and so much more! Looks like I'll be skipping chalk paint. lol

Sounds like an awful lot of work just to get something to look like it's been neglected for a long time. Couldn't you just leave it out on the patio or in the garage for a couple of years and get the same effect??

I guess many like "distressing" their furniture...but like the woman was saying...why would you do that to furniture you just painted?
As for the paint itself, way too expensive!

I agree with you about the cost; I've never paid anything even close to $40 a gallon for paint, let alone for a quart.

8 ounces seems to run anywhere from $6 to $10 and I am told you need two or more coats..plus a wax finish...?

That's right in line with what the article said. She quoted a price of $40 for a quart, which is 32 ounces. That's way too much for paint.

If it were a very small project, I could see it being a thought.. but not for bigger items.

I guess people want to make crappy old pieces of furniture look like antiques. Seems to me they could just go to yard sales or estate sales instead.

Have you ever been to an auction? At some of them, you could practically furnish an entire house for $100 or less!

I haven't been to a furniture auction or any kind or major auction, but know people who have gotten great deals on antiques and if any need work, they don't paint them and sandpaper them, they do what it takes to keep the piece as original as possible.
