Equal healthcare for all and socialism?
Any thoughts or opinions on the whole health care issue?

Hello [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Bree!
Yes, I have a LOT of thoughts about it....
not much in the way of a solution, though... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
What do you think about it all?

Oh. "Socialism"... ? Nah.
That way lies guaranteed mediocrity... IMO.

Re: Equal healthcare for all and socialism?
I think health care ought to be accessible/affordable by all. It should be one of our basic human rights, and the only reason that our founding fathers didn't mention it in the bill of rights is that they probably never fathomed that it would be unaffordable.

I gave your answer a star cuz it's a lovely thought.
It is impractical, though... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

It's only impractical if we don't fight for it.

Re: Equal healthcare for all and socialism?
Well, people say that health care for all means socialism. I'll have to do more reading on socialism to see how accurate that is. As for the health care part... Canada has that, yet... many say they are on waiting lists and don't always get the help they need.
So... if health care for all isn't working like it should, something more needs to be done or considered?
My opinion, nobody should be without their basic needs met... shelter, food, health care...
In this world, money talks too much and allows some to gain way more than they will ever need while others can't even "live".

Re: Equal healthcare for all and socialism?
I truly believe that most of the people who say that universal health care is socialism are either rich, and don't want to pay higher taxes, or have health care paid for by their employer, or they are stupid.
I mean think about it, if everybody had health care, it would cost less per person, since a lot fewer people would go to the emergency room, which is the most expensive method of treatment by far, and hospitals wouldn't have to pass on the huge extra cost for people who can't (or won't) pay, plus productivity would rise because people wouldn't miss work as much, plus people who are covered would likely seek treatment earlier, before it becomes an emergency and costs escalate...
