these tomatos planted nurtured and grew all by them selves, the water was run off from the pots. Never had beauties like this when i TRIED !!
probably because here we had the best summer ever, no 40+ heat waves and some rain ,almost no garden pests .you've got summer coming up, hope you have a good one !!

Re: ...what does your garden grow .....
Nice tomatoes! You should just let your garden take care of itself!
Last year, before we moved, we had a squash plant take up residence in front of our steps. That plant really grew!
If I wait and am kind to my garden, will it grow a cute dog like yours?

Re: ...what does your garden grow .....
it does sort of take care of itself ! i tend to let things grow where they plant themselves, but getting a bit more organised now. biggest prob is in winter there is only a 2-3 foot strip along the back fence that actually gets sunlight ,meaning i try to grow EVERTHING along there.and the only reason i don't have a couple of chooks. more winter sun in front, but can't really grow veggies there , no fence.
you don't really want to grow a cute dog like that one, the little hooligan took off this morning when i put the budgie out front, didn't know she was gone till i had a phone call from my neighbour who saw her a few streets away.she very firmly told Roxy to get home quick ! now ! she hightailed it back quick smart, then pretended nothing happened .
LMAO spell check never heard of chooks !!

Re: ...what does your garden grow .....
You can grow things outside... in the winter?
I gave up on a totally organized garden... seems something is always where it wasn't put. lol
As for that dog, we had a dog. Her name was Penny. She was the same way. Never could keep her where she belonged!
We lived outside of a smaller village and she loved it! At that time, we had three paper routes to do daily. Most times, we would find Penny somewhere along the way. lol It got worse when she had a couple of puppies to tow along with her! A few times, the village idiot (I mean cop) would find us on our route to let us know Penny was on the run again.

Re: ...what does your garden grow .....
LOL our winters are a bit different to yours ! no snow around here ,and we do have some nice sunny winter days. the garden does well because of the rain, if we're lucky enough to get some.it gets quite cold ,down to about 5-6c or roundabout 40f overnight, and 16- 20c days.
Penny sounds like Roxy, now and then just can't resist the call of the wild !!

Does that mean you keep your garden the whole year round?

Re: ...what does your garden grow .....
I never thought about anyone being able to grow things outside... all year long!
I wouldn't mind that at all!
Good luck with all your new ones!

Re: ...what does your garden grow .....
Wow, Roxy, you must have some stories to tell! You make it sound like a refugee camp wasn't so bad, at least to a young child who grew up there, and had the freedom to explore. Can't imagine what it was like for your parents though. Australia must have been like a chance to start anew for them.

Re: ...what does your garden grow .....
it was tough on the parents, but kids are very accepting and resilient , some how not having heaps of stuff just didn't matter to us kids, we had FUN !!
mind you, mums outlook would have been totally different .
and yes, Australia was the new start ,and couldn't have been better.

This stopped me in my tracks. I can't imagine what that must have been like for a child or adults.
I am trying to find some information, but it seems it's going to take a little time and work.
Roxanna, when you finally migrated to Australia, did your family start totally over with nothing? Either way, starting over is hard!, but in a new place and all.. that really had to be hard.

Re: ...what does your garden grow .....
Breezey, yes we did start over with nothing, dad worked on the railways for a couple years and saved deposit for our house, mum and my 3 younger brothers and i stayed in Woodside holding centre,my older (teens) brother and sister got live in jobs.as always, it's hard on the parents, and we kids had a big adventure.(Woodside was an army centre(?) and a couple of the blocks housed immigrant families ) let me know what you unearth , be interesting to see how it fits in.
