Re: Can you recognize and pronounce the ingredients in products...
i do check ingredients on the products i buy, but when it comes to long unpronounceable words, no , i can't pronounce them and i don't even know what a lot of them mean. i tend to check for sugar and fat content, and they do sneak them in uder different names.

Re: Can you recognize and pronounce the ingredients in products...
I can usually decipher most product labels. Being a pharmacist for years and having a second degree in chemistry, gives one alot of insight into what is actually IN many of the products we buy and use. It is interesting, how some companies disguise ingredients and appear to try and confuse people as to the REAL content. For example: simple mineral oil may be listed as any of these:
Paraffin oil; Heat-treating oil; Hydraulic oil; Cable oil; Lubricating oil; Oil mist, refined mineral; mineral oil mist; oil mist, mineral, severely refined; Uvasol; Paraffin oils; Mineral oil hydrocarbon solvent (petroleum); Mineral oil (saturated parrafin oil); oil, petroleum; Nujol; liquid paraffin; white mineral oil; clearteck; drakeol; hevyteck; filtrawhite; frigol; kremol; kaydol; alboline; paroleine; Saxol; adepsine oil; glymol; lignite oil; blandol white mineral oil; carnea 21; Ervol; gloria; hydrocarbon oils; peneteck; primol; triona b; blandlube; crystosol; Molol; protopet; bayol f; crystol 325; fonoline; bayol 55; kondremul; neo-cultol; oil mist; penreco; perfecta; petrogalar; primol 355; primol d; tech pet f; Petroleum hydrocarbons; jute batching oil; paraffin oil (class); petrolatum, liquid; white oil; Mineral oil, aromatic; Mineral oil, paraffinic; Mineral Seal Oil; Electrical Insulating Oil; OIL MIST, MINERAL (MINERAL OIL); White Mineral Oil(CAS 8042475)
How about THAT?! Cosmetic companies seem to be the worst! So many times, they list ingredients by chemical name or generic names - that make their products seem to be very mysterious or very chemically sophisticated ... when they are actually very simple in their compositions.
