Secret Archive Gives Grim View of Afghan War

A six-year archive of classified military documents to be
made public on Sunday offers an unvarnished, ground-level
picture of the war in Afghanistan that is in many respects
more grim than the official portrayal.

The secret documents, to be released by an organization
called WikiLeaks, are a daily diary of an American-led force
often starved for resources and attention as it struggled against
an insurgency that grew larger, better coordinated and more deadly each year.

They say those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
Afghanistan has a long history of fighting and defeating foreign occupiers. It doesn't help that we supplied much of the arms being used against us now, while trying to help them against USSR in the 80's.

Yes. Some of them came all the way to Saudi Arabia to help
in Desert Storm. Amazing.
It isn't Afghanistan we're fighting is it? It's the Taliban.
They're a lot like Turkey, to me.
Hannibal went around Turkey; Napoleon went around Turkey;
even Hitler went around Turkey.
Maybe we shouldn't think of it as helping Afghanistan?
Maybe we should call it what it is.
And MAYBE... we should quit buying the bull Pakistan is selling us.
