A child? When is a child no longer a child?

Heh...
Legally? Eighteen in this country.
Speaking for myself...
(and assuming no illness, handicap, emacipation, etc)

I think a child is no longer a child when he/she is capable of
fending for him/herself.
(This language needs another freakin' pronoun!)
I'm going with "their/rthey/them" from here on... *sniff*

I ALSO think a child is no longer a child when they murder,
commit armed robbery, rape, carry a weapon, etc. -
ANY violent crime. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Apart from that... and given the current (long-standing!) economic
conditions - and 3 generations are once again living together
out of necessity...the "fending for themselves" - financially - is less
feasible.
I still think - "living at home" or not - a child is no longer a child
when they can take care of themselves.
Insofar as anyone is capable of that, these days...
And they by-gosh better contibute !

It surely isn't.
Is is, however, a guarantee of innocence lost.

"Ignorance can be remedied; stupid is forever."

I can only hope that it forces growing up... it did for me.
I was two weeks shy of age 19 - when I married.
DUMB!! but older than many these days.
Why is it the younger the child - the more they think they know?
Not counting my usual excuse for them :
"It's as old as they've ever been..." - meaning how should they know?
UNLESS you count ADVICE... I mean.
