The Robin
3 posters
The Robin
I wondered what to put up today but I was prompted by this little chap earlier. Perhaps the snowdrops and picture of snow helped.
The Robin.
He's under my feet!
I only have to set foot in the garden
And he's there,
Fearless.
Is it curiosity,
Or hunger?
With his bright red brest
And his silky brown coat.
He knows me well,
Swathed in my thermal garb,
As ever.
Cocking his head to one side
And viewing me,
Quizzically.
"Aren't you hot in all that?"
NO!
(and my feet are freezing!)
Sometimes he'll give me a tune.
I'll whistle back,
A poor repost!
There's no way I can compete
With his tuneful medley
Of chirps,
And whistles,
And flowing songs,
Holding the full richness and warmth
Of Summer last,
Long gone.
Songs,
Composed on the wing,
Spontaneously,
Expertly delivered
By a small feathered mystro
straight from the heart.
A medley full of true beauty
Just for me.

Re: The Robin
This makes me smile... and I relate to it!
Makes me think of warm days and sunshine... flowers and birds... birds playing in the sand I have and running around under my squash leaves.
Robins and others...

Re: The Robin
That is just so beautifully written P and you are making me miss my friends "Back Home". It is Springtime here and their songs would be ever so pretty. The only bird life here that I have discovered is the cockatoo next door.. but his screech is not so nice. He too wants to be free and able to fly again.

Re: The Robin
Dont talk to me about flying, Im still waiting, and STILL no progress on that front! Do you think I should have feathers growing by now? Perhaps Koo can give me a few lessons. No progress with playing the piano either, Ive just about lost faith in these NHS chaps, at least THEY can quack!
The robin is back again. Yesterday he was in the tree so close I could have touched him! Then on the handle of my bucket. He didnt go as far as helping me to pick up the leaves, but he did give me a lovely song.
