How do we determine what we can and can't change about situations in our lives?
Example....
A woman is in an awful car accident and is told she is lucky to be alive at all. The doctors do "the best they can" and send her home. She is told she will never walk again.
How does this woman determine if she should just accept what she's been told or try anyway?
Does the endorsement from doctors saying she won't ever walk again make the difference?

We should be the same person no matter what. Our situations in life do not define who we are. Only we do, and there is always hope. I think it's more about how you face your problems and deal with them. One's true character is shown in how he handles adversity.

"The size of your success is measured
by the strength of your desire; the size of your dream; and how you handle disappointment along the way."
~ Robert Kiyosaki

"It is the highest form of self-respect
to admit our errors and mistakes and
make amends for them. To make a mistake
is only an error in judgment, but to adhere to it
when it is discovered shows infirmity of character."
~ Dale E. Turner

"Sometimes questions are
more important than answers."
~ Nancy Willard, quoted in The Meaning of Life, compiled by Hugh S. Moorhead

"Doctors don't know everything." ~ Da bunny dancing bunny

That's a good one. Suppose the woman chooses to believe the doctors because they ARE doctors and know what they are talking about? It sets a whole different mind frame for her. She accepts defeat and doesn't try.
Suppose the woman chooses to try anyway? She is determined to do what others say she can't. That sets a mind frame to keep trying.
The choice to try or not... I think that is what makes the difference between knowing what you can change and what you can't?
