So how is the New Year shaping up for you so far ?

here we are, half way through January,and it's been good !
on one day I received 4 unexpected gifts in my letter box,cards and gifts from Ohio and London,a compensation cheque (for stuff that defrosted in my freezer) from that stupid electricity co. who had my electricity cut off when i didn't even have an account with them (yes, it took over 6 months ,all fixed now I hope) Plus, my rent statement, over paid and can claim the several hundred dollars when ever i like. a few days ago the extended warranty for my little tv that gave up the ghost came in handy, they gave me a new TV set that's better than the old one and includes a dvd player.
And on a personal level,things are settling down ,after a number of 'talks' with my son who is staying here for a while,good thing is he will talk about how he feels,and bring up issues, makes resolving things so much easier.
Doesn't take much to make me happy !!

We got lovely snow from a more mild storm, my car battery died, I finally got a stove I love into the downstairs kitchen (see, we have two kitchens and the stove is upstairs. NOW I have a really nice stove downstairs and don't have to go upstairs to cook! lol ), everyone is doing well, I got a real look at how much my children love me... not something you see demonstrated much on a daily level!
I think it's been a good start.. even though not perfect! lol

you sound like such a happy house hold ,and busy no doubt.I can't imagine running upstairs to cook ,what a relieve for you to have your stove in a more user friendly place
Your children love you,how good to see it now and then, and definitely not an everyday occurrence here either !will have to try and keep the momentum going a long way yet to the rest of the year !

The rest of the year?! I'm not even going to think about it! lol

Dammit.

WEll so far my wife did get a little amount of money from an inheritance. With her being 1 of 13 kids,it was small. She wanted a new washer & dryer,so we ordered them. The day they were to come we moved the old ones to the garage. While rolling it down a step she still had her hand on the cart handle & got a finger smashed. It broke the finger and split the tip open needing 9 stitches. She does house cleanings for 5-6 people but can't do them for a while till all heals. So gotta take the bad with the good,and thank God it wasn't any worse. Now to get the elections over,and hope for another GOOD CHANGE this time.

New year has not been good. Along with my wife smashing her finger,and not having any insurance ,she had a blood test and it shows possible liver and kidney problems. WE web searched some meds. she is prescribed and they all show that they can cause these problems. She quit taking them immediately. Hopefully we can wait a while for another blood test & it will be OK.Seems like there are way too many side effects. Cure one thing but have 2 more problems.

So far, so good. Been working outside: mowing, tree-trimming, weed-eating, raking leaves, cleaning the flower beds, etc. Crazy weather: one day, it's sunny and mild ... next day, rainy and cold. Shouldn't complain though ... at least, it's not 110 degrees!
