I'd like to try making one of those HUGE wreaths out of pine cones. I've always thought those were cool. Like this:

Okay... we did a project here.
Clear, glass ornaments. Take the tops off, add different color paints inside and swirl them around. After a while, you get ideas of different ways to do them and no two are the same. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
When done, tip them upside down into a paper cup or old dish to let the extra paint drip out. You could even use glitter paint, if you like. It's simple, but fun and almost any age can do it. We even got Tithe do a couple. lol
When done, put tops back on. You can use ribbon or just a hook to hang them.

Okay... I have made - over the past 2 or 3 centuries :

WREATHS -
All the way from one with giant Redwood pine cones attached
to styrofoam, (and later removed and placed loose on a flower-cutting
basket - I LOVE!! those baskets!) by the fireplace with a giant red-velvet BOW *sigh* tied to the handle, natch - the giant cones are AMAZING!
- through ones made from grapevines and decorated
with everything from tiny Christmas packages, all manner of ribbon,
and with and without tiny lights and all kinds of Christmas tree
decorations - all the way to a bent-into-a-circle wire coat-hanger completely covered (front, back and sides!) in only wrapped round red-and-white peppermint candies (you can use the hook part to hang the thing.)
Oh - stick a bow on the top at the "hook-part".

TREE ORNAMENTS -
ANY material (trust me - any) snowflakes of all sizes, hand-cut-out
and beaded, glittered, etc.(The ones (tiny) made from aluminum foil
and those from paper-lace doilies are really pretty but also those
made from various kinds of cloth are great too,
also paper - white and colored.

One year Greg, Sheri and I tied about a million ribbons -
I still HAVE the bows - if you'd like to count them?
(ALL KINDS! of ribbon - 2 feet to a bow) into bows on our tree.
Very effective. Okay, it was GORGEOUS!

Also ornaments made from one half of pecan shells with and a
tiny mouse in flannel nightcap, under a blanket, inside .
And on and on and ON... Mom made herself and one for us - each -
a completely handmade, enormous!TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS tree skirt.
(It's beautiful !) decorated with pearls and sequins and ribbon.
Each of the 12 days is depicted by a felt, multi-colored character or figure
pieced together from a pattern - Partridge, leaping Lord , yadda yadda...

We made jeweled ornaments (The first ornament Greg ever made was a
toy soldier - "Nutcracker"-style. Yes, we still have it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]) -
from beads and ribbon stuck with tiny! shirt-pins to a styrofoam shape.
and every thing else, too. We've made little wreaths from strung-on-wire
plastic or glass beads with a tiny contrasting cloth bow at the top.
A round, multi-layered heavy-duty aluminum (tied in the middle similar to the endless paper flowers we've all made) and cut into thin fringe -
then separated until it's a bristling ball - attach with whatever -
a hanger, string, more wire - and stick them
anywhere/ everywhere on the tree .
They catch the light and look GORGEOUS! -
especially when the tree is lit - And those "holes" you see ?
no matter how HARD! you try? They are PERFECT! "there", wherever
"there" is .
PLUS.. there is not a cat in the world that won't claim one for themselves
and play with it - ENDLESSLY. Thusly [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] the cat thinks it got away with
an ornament and you won't have to kill the little sweetie.

My FAVORITE!! is candy-cane reindeer. YAY! Yippee!
One (not-wrapped) candy cane - any variety/colors(s) -
to which you attach two comic-doll-eyes - the kind that roll -
and a red-hot (candy) nose or a tiny little yarn round red ball
(also for making dolls.)THEN you usually get pipe cleaners
(sometimes I use the little wires with stars, snowflakes - whatever)
that are used for packages and wrap one around the cane where it
starts to curve : VIOLA! ANTLERS!
And add a some/any-colored narrow satin ribbon (I like it to be red)
tied into a bow - mid-cane.
They are DARLING! , EASY! to make, fun! and kids can make them -
(and better!) and will - as long as there are candy canes for them to use.
AND... the cane comes with a natural hanger!

There must be a photo or a reasonable facsimile of them! on-line
... somewhere. I'll look!

Okay, I'm pooped - from typing - NOT out of things to list.
Boy... my Mom... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The bow half-way down the cane is sooo cute!
Uh... did I mention ? Glue the eyes, nose, etc. in place?
It's a good idea. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
ANY color pipe cleaners -ANY - everyone starts out "traditional"
(see above) but pretty soon creativity - and "punch-drunk" -
takes over!
I stick (wrapped) candy canes all over the tree - and in wreaths,
on packages, etc. - anyway. They are sooo useful!

Too much? ^ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Also the wire-coat-hanger will also make a great wreath
if you use tree ornaments - new if you like - we used the
ones (chipped, cracked, paint flaked off etc) from when
,we were kids that don't see the tree anymore -
now we don't feel like we're neglecting them.
(I'm not kidding ^ my feelings were always hurt for them)
Just slide 'em on the open wire and add a bow to hide the "join". };>

Clothespin deer.. anyone ever see those? They are so cute and can't be eaten! lol

You have ornaments that don't see the tree anymore? All those chips, cracks and such are what adds character, ya know! We have ornaments from over 25 years ago. lol They are history!

Those clothespin ornaments are cute and not hard to do. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

They certainly ARE history - [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - I love each and every
single one! of them. They are some of my VERY! favorites
and are now doing duty someplace OTHER than the tree!
Actually I think a few might be worth a little money ...
they're THAT old - of course, the condition might not be so wonderful...

Did I ever mention that I collect(ed) Christmas tree ornaments?
Oh, yeeesss... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] and my Mom thought it was a such a GREAT!
idea, when we moved back to Scottsdale. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
So, we had a BALL! for a lot! of years (LOTS! of them!) collecting ornaments together! We really did. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I tried to limit the new ones to the really special ones!
Some were kinda expensive [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] , too!
(Ol' Scrooge McJewell was not! always pleased... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
The limiting to the really unusual, of course, managed to coincide
with "them" beginning to make ALL KINDS! of "specialty" ornaments.
Even if - (and trust me - it didn't work with Mom) I successfully
limited them to 5 or 6 per year... Well, there are/were a LOT!! of ornaments on that only-7-foot tree!

One year I just made a green-felt fir tree -one dimensional -
and attached it to a living room WALL and we PINNED
the ornaments! to it! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - at our house.STILL not enough room
- and that"tree" was 10 feet tall and about half-again as wide!
(It was - kinda - cute!) and I'm pretty-sure it was the only one like
it that year!
(Some years, un-crating that tree wasn't a swell idea)
and re-packing was never! anything but a genuine pain in
the posterior.
We had a live tree for the bows ...
What a joy! to just drag it out to the dumpster and be DONE! with it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] And slipping the bows off and tossing them all into ONE box
was soooo relaxing! Yes, indeedy!

I HAVE MORE WREATHS THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE WINDOWS AND DOORS! Total. ALL are ones WE MADE!
(I also! have Thanksgiving ones and a Halloween one.)
Some of them have to go on the walls - INSIDE!
(Couldn't possibly just leave any but the most decrepit/sure to
not-survive ones in their boxes...)

AND... and never mind. I'm getting a little twitch over one eye... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I used to decorate every single solitary surface! -
in BOTH! homes.
(You had to be veeery careful! around sinks if you wanted
to use one of them.)

Plus the GARLANDS!
- garlands hung/draped/whatever over every mirror, bannister etc.
Well, it seemed that way, anyhow...
(one - my favorite! - is decorated with the CUTEST!! mice, doves, reindeer, -whatever! on red-flocked skis and they attach just-about anywhere with what used to be tiny little skinny wires - (NOW pipe cleaner) cuz eventually the wires just snapped! from twisting and untwisting...!)
One is adorable gold foil dangling with music notes and sheet music (decorated with freaking HOLLY, of course!)
And...
An angel hair cloud, with Santa, his sleigh - full of ADORABLE!
little toys and wrapped presents! AND all EIGHT! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] reindeer
on an oval MIRROR!
It ^ was BRILLIANT thinking on my part!, I tell ya; otherwise I would have had to find a place on the TREE! for them!
(HER tree is EIGHT! FEET ! and still! there is not/was not enough room!)

And the Mr. and Mrs. Claus dolls (living-room coffee table)
that (I think! it was Vi) made, PLUS the 3-Christmas bells pillows!
AND the knitted gingerbread house (roof comes off) with Christmas candy! inside, and the wooden Rudolph card caddy,
... and every ornament or Christmasy what-ever someone ever
gave to MOM for Christmas!
(What is wrong with a pair of SOCKS!, I ask you?)

Fortunately the only Christmas ornaments anyone ever
dared give me was at work.
There we drew names and then hung each gift-ornament
on the office Christmas tree; which gave us about 110 ornaments
for our tree each year. Cute! Some of them were ADORABLE!
And it pretty-much UN-decorated itself on the way out, Christmas Eve.
PLUS, of course, the "Secret Santa" *er* joy (?)
AND... - and never mind...; my doctor said to,
"LET IT GO! for God's sake!" - or words to that effect. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Sooo...
Not ! (I tell you - NOT!) one. single. damned. day. before
the 15th of December!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Please excuse me for just a sec - ?
I have to go take something to help relax my jaw - I'll be right back.
Party on!, please ...
You were saying it's only HOW MANY days until... what was it?
