I don't suppose there's ever a chance of going back to the good old days....

I choose to do that. An older home, in the country, away from so much of the crap that is going on.

Kind of sad to think our children may some day think WE have the good old days.

yes, to children they will see this as good days too.
even in the midst of humanities ills,as "we" were in too.
we still say our past was "good" and "simpler".

were they really better days ? or were things just simply swept under the carpet ? we were much more naive and innocent ,may be it's knowing what we know now that makes the days gone by feel so good.we remember the good things better.

Although many things were probably bad way before now, some things have gotten worse as the years go by.... like not being able to leave your home unlocked (many use to do that), rudeness to people in public, offering strangers a ride and other things people use to just take for granted. I use to offer people rides when their cars broke down or they had no car at all. People showed more respect and kindness towards others in public.

only to true, breezey. manners have gone almost completely ,and you can't even leave the front door unlocked when you are in the back of the house.
it was a safer world we knew.sleeping on the front lawn or veranda on a hot summers night was common .not anymore. Sad

Most neighbors had respect for each other and their property. Now, people throw trash in the bushes, trespass and do as they please, play loud ( heard from their car inside a neighbors house) music and more.

Agreed.
Today's technology is great ... like these machines that allow us to communicate with each other this way. But, sadly, there seems to be a lowering of values and a disrespect for many of the things we took for granted. I guess we all evaluate things from our own perspective, but I truly think the music was better, the food was better and people were nicer to each other (in general). We have a nice group of friends here though! We seem to have much in common.
