Any plans for the near future/summer months?

Post by Breezey Breezey on Wed Apr 25, 2018 10:36 pm

It's the time of year that many make plans for vacations or travelling...or just some summer fun...what have you got planned?

You keep working on that! lol
I plan on getting my gardens tilled up and taking a trip to Texas within a few months, if all goes according to plan.

Gardening is a given, for me. No road trips currently planned, but that could change, as I have yet to visit my sister and her family in Ithica, NY; and another sister is going to be moving from PA to TN soon..

Hmmm... I still haven't started anything garden wise... a bit too soon and cold yet. I am also trying to figure a trip to Australia.. really want to get there this year yet.

Hey, Tater...maybe make a plan to go visit your sister...before "someday" smile2

Gardens are all planted... flowers, perennials, didn't do as well as they should have. Probably due to that large amount of snowfall after the plants were coming up!!
Veggie gardens are doing good, but something keeps digging up my onions to eat! Texas trip is on hold til further notice.... my son was in an accident... a van hit him while he was riding bike to work. So... waiting for word when surgery will be for his leg and ankle.

Hello, Tater! A lot has been going on! Late, Monday afternoon, I got notice my son would have surgery by 8 on Wednesday morning. Tuesday was filled with getting things ready, Wednesday was an all day thing at hospital for surgery and then work. It's been a bit rushed since! My son is doing okay, but will have to have another surgery to remove metal parts when his bones are all healed.

Hi Breezey!

Hope your son heals quickly. I have been fortunate to never have any broken bones, but I can't imagine it being much fun, except for when you're in grade school and everybody signs your cast.

I'm doing well now that I got my meds straightened out. They had me on 2 blood pressure meds that ended up causing my bp and heart rate to be too low, but they took me off them and now I'm pretty much back to normal. Well, more normal anyway!

It had been really nice here, but now it's hotter than dog breath, so I'm trying to soak in as much a/c as I can. This too shall pass.

Gotta love how well doctors know what they are doing! NOT!

I will check in here later again. Going outside for a while. smile2

Hello again, Tater!
Gardening! Yes! I have gardens again. I planted brusselsprouts, but something sure does love all the leaves! I may not be doing things quite the way I used to, but I have about twenty tomato plants of different types and a lot of bell peppers, some onions, lots of zucchini again, watermelon, cucumbers and my herbs. How about you? Any gardening at all?

All my gardening so far has been with flowers: the bulbs have all bloomed already, and I planted a bunch of annuals and a few perennials, scattered some wildflowers seeds which are starting to bloom, and some perennials have come back from last year. Right now we have marigolds, zinnias, portulaca (moss rose or purslane), petunias and pansies, coleas, coreopsis (tick seed), black-eyed susans, dianthas, salvia (sage), celosia (cock's comb) and lantana..

That's a lot of flowers!! Variety like that has got to be a beautiful sight! I have tiger lilies opening now. My phlox are all growing tall and spreading out, but still no flowers. I have hostas that are getting ready to show their flowers, but that is about it. Many of my flowers didn't do so well this year. And now, something is trying to eat all of my brussel sprout plants!!

You have discovered a rare creature, one who likes brussel sprouts! I believe phlox mainly bloom in the early spring and  fall. The flowers here aren't prolific yet; the weather so far has been more conducive to producing stems and roots and leaves, but once the rains become less frequent and there is more abundant sunshine, the flowers should explode with color like fireworks!

I will have you know, young lady (younger lady?),
I am neither selfish nor shellfish! You can have all the water in the world for all I care! Just drive on down and take whatever you need, or I can even ship it to you, but of course, since I have no money, you would have to pay for the shipping costs.

Cool beans! We've been fortunate so far this summer as far as rain, and I haven't had to water the plants very much, but this week and next looks like it's definitely going to be an exception.

Are you getting many lightning bugs this year (aka fireflies..)?

Re: Any plans for the near future/summer months?

I volunteer at the Women's Humane Society. I majnly just spend time with them, playing with them and comforting them. And talking to them, they don't seem to mind and they never tell me to shut up.

Oops, I meant to say the cats don't seem to mind. The women, that's a different story.

I finally made it back! Been gone doing more than shopping and couldn't remember my password today! I keep bags in my car for all kinds of places. Tired of getting so many to bring home from stores!
