what is a good digital camera

for value and performance? What about price being under a hundred dollars?
Ever wonder if your digital camera is really all that great or maybe even better than
\you thought?

And....just how many does one person need?! lol

I have a Nikon Coolpix camera which I paid just under $100 for. You can pay a lot more for more sophisticated cameras, but this one has all the features I need and is relatively easy to use.

Digital cameras are great because, among other things, you don't need film, and can upload pics directly to your computer and print them or send them to anyone instantly. You only need a memory card which costs a few bucks and can store hundreds of photos, and can also be reused over and over again. You can delete any pictures you don't like, so you don't have to pay for developing any that didn't turn out well.

I also purchased rechargeable batteries that I have been using for almost 10 years. They cost me less than ten bucks including the charger, so that's less than $1 per year!

Nikon Coolpix 5400, Nikon Coolpix 4800, Sony FD Mavica, Kodak DC 290, Olympus Camedia C-3000, Olympus Camedia D-580, Panasonic Lumix and Polaroid PDC 5080....these are all the cameras sitting here. Other than worrying about  availability of cards and such, do you have any idea which ones produce quality pictures or have other outstanding qualities?

Both of the Coolpix are decent cameras. The Sony seems to be ancient history, as is the Kodak. The Olympus Camedia C-3000 is from the early 2000's, and might be something your kids would enjoy using. Same for the Camedia D-580. As for the Lumix, there is a wide range of models, from cheap and very basic to more expensive and advanced.The Polaroid is a basic but useful model that would take decent pictures and looks like it would be pretty easy to use, even for a young teen or pre-teen.

Generally, the more megapixels (MP) a camera has, the better quality the photos will be. But the Coolpix 4800, while having 4 MP compared to the Coolpix 5400's 5.1 MP, also has an 8X optical zoom, which means you can get really good closeups of faraway objects.

Sony and Kodak...not ancient history! lol They work and have all they need to keep working. Question is.... why did you dismiss them without telling what you think of the performance? lol

They are ancient history as far as digital cameras are concerned. Most cell phone cameras have more mega pixels now.

okay...I am weeding out my cameras. Maybe I should start a camera museum.... this family has tons of cameras from way back when...including those that develop their own film. lol

Seriously, though, it sounds like you have enough cameras to give each of your children one. Or even your grandkids.

I actually like film cameras. I like having real pictures. Too often, what is on a digital camera never makes it to pictures....only computer.
I also have an HP photosmart I am keeping. lol
I suppose the ones I am not keeping will be going to donation at some store...hmmm...

1 camera is enough for me at 1 time.. lol
I have a digital camera and love that I can load them into the computer but I be vigilant... most times and get them printed off. I like that I only have to pay to have printed what I want.. not the ones with peoples heads cut off...

It's not very nice to cut peoples' heads off.
