The simple life... To me, it is just loving life.. being happy with who you are and who you are with. The love of family and friends.. that is all that matters. Oh... and gardening.. lol... and art... and camping.. I need no more.

Simple life... I see Lorry has an idea what that is to her. lol
Maybe we all have different ideas of what a simple life would be like?

I think Lorry nailed it. Whether you are in the city, country, or suburbs, that pretty much covers it.

Re: What does "living the simple life" mean to you?
Simple life...not so rushed... maybe a life that doesn't require a ton of money or gadgets that aren't really needed. Planting a garden..doing more things for yourself instead of depending on others... maybe less government and rules to prevent people from doing just that.

A life not so rushed... yes. That is the simple life. And gardening.. YESssssss A simple and very enjoyable life.
Here.. the government doesn't stop us from doing many of the things you speak about Breezey. There are a few guidelines, but in the country towns, many people keep chooks in their backyards and grow their own vegies.

Here, even in the city, we can have a vegetable garden, but no chooks. In most rural areas, that wouldn't be a problem.

Doesn't anyone in the city have a chook? Even in one tiny corner of their back yard?

Re: What does "living the simple life" mean to you?
Chickens were banned in the city of Philadelphia in 2004. Apparently, some people think they don't make good neighbors. In a city of 1.5 million people, I can see their point; If I was routinely awakened by a rooster at 4 o'clock in the morning, I might have to reconsider my opposition to guns. Keep in mind, that the average house doesn't sit on 5 acres here; it's more likely to be 5 or 10 or even 20 houses per acre in the case of row homes (townhouses).

lol... that is so funny. You would re consider your opposition to guns.. ha ha ha.
Couldn't they just have banned the roosters. The hens don't make a racket, unless they are laying an egg.

Re: What does "living the simple life" mean to you?
I suppose they could have, but I think part of it is that people objected to the odor within close proximity to their windows, if a coop wasn't kept clean. Remember, the average Philly house shares a wall with at least one neighbor. My house is a twin home (we only share a wall with one other house, as opposed to a row home which shares a wall on both sides), but even so, the neighbor who doesn't share an adjoining wall is still only about 20 feet away.

Ahhh! Your houses share walls?!
Tater, who owns the wall when you sell a house?!

As far as I know, nobody owns the wall, at least not outright. I mean, it's not like we could alter the wall or tear it down without affecting the other house.

Re: What does "living the simple life" mean to you?
Twin houses are similar to duplexes, except that that twins are houses and duplexes are apartments. Twin homes include the land.
Twin houses (sometimes called semi detached) are totally separate homes; the only thing they have in common is a wall separating the two homes. They are usually mirror images of each other.
Row homes (similar to town homes or townhouses) share a wall on both sides, except for the end units, and can often take up an entire block.

Re: What does "living the simple life" mean to you?
Okay.
I think I'd go for a tiny house...those houses many are opting for for one or two people. When I am on my own, a tiny house would suit me just fine...
