Would you... number 1

Would you grow your own food if given land to do so without government trying to regulate yours?

In Australia.. land is provided in communities to grow vegies. It's called community gardening. The government do not regulate what people grow in these gardens. It is up to the community. It brings like minded people together.

We have that here as well; the only problem is, our nearest community garden is several miles away, and not accessible except by car. There are community gardens in the inner city which are much more accessible to local residents though.

How do your community gardens work?

I personally have not been involved in the community gardens as we always had our own vegetable garden.. but many areas have them. They are a wonderful idea and great for the communities to get to know one another at the same time as giving people an opportunity to grow their own food.

In our area, each person gets his own 30' by 30' plot to grow whatever they want, and can keep the plot year after year as long as they keep it up and don't abandon it in the middle of the growing season. There is no cost to obtain the plot.

I am going to see if there is something like that around here....
