WHY.. or WHY NOT?

Mostly, yes.
The cold and snow is always rough.. and it's only rented... so never know when I may need to move again. 
But, I love the yard, the house itself is much better than I had and the neighbors aren't so bad...

I would prefer it if it was cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter, but I do like the fact that it is less than a hundred miles to both the ocean and the mountains. I am also close to historical, architectural, and cultural attractions in one of the largest cities in the U.S, as well as being close to beautiful parks and natural rural areas.

I love where we live. Victoria does not get the extreme heat like the top end of Australia does, but we do get the bitter cold. In the part of Vic that we live, we are within 25 minutes from one beach and 45 minutes from another.. 3 minutes places you into the centre of town and 10 minutes sees you amidst the tall timber of the magnificent gum trees and tree ferns of the Otway Ranges. Our major city of Melbourne is a 2 - 2.5 hour drive depending on traffic, but we only go there when we have doc appointments. Otherwise we avoid it like the plague!! For the most part, the people are friendly. We love going camping in the bush and there are some fantastic free camping places around to soak up nature at it's best, with a good old camp fire.. Marshmallows anyone?

Sounds like a great place to live, except...You drive 2 hours to see your doctor?

It is a great place to live alright. I Love it and have no desire to live elsewhere... Yes I have to travel that far to see my doc.. my cardiologist is situated in the best hospital in Melbourne. Whilst it is a long trip there and back, I am fortunate to be in his care particularly when he is one of the leading specialists in his field. I see him every 4 months... Otherwise we have plenty of GP's here and quite a few specialists do travel here every couple of weeks from the bigger towns.

Well if it's a specialist, that makes sense.

For a small country town, we are very lucky that those services are offered. Years ago, you had to travel for any specialists. They never came here. I think we are much better off these days with all the newest technology.

Most definitely not Breezey. People make the place we live in. All the beauty in the world is wasted if our loved ones are not there to share it with us.
So... where I live, I am surrounded by very special people who make my life wonderful.
